Excellent service and performance! I've had this for a year and a half and wanted to share my experience
5/5

******************UPDATE 09/06/2018*******************
I've had this for a year and a half and wanted to share my experience. It's been a great addition to our kitchen and has performed flawlessly so far. The self-cleaning feature is extremely useful. We needed to replace one of the bulbs, and customer service was extremely helpful throughout the process. It has a low profile and has a beautiful appearance. I would strongly suggest it. Original review: **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** br>br>With the Tatsumaki TA-, we are very pleased. Range hood with 400 watts. I'm a cautious shopper who avoids buying products with a low number of reviews. We, on the other hand, took a risk with the TA- 400 for the following reasons: 1) We needed a powerful hood because we cook a lot of spicy/flavorful South Asian food (desirable), which necessitates a lot of frying and high-heat cooking, which makes our entire house (and clothes) smell flavorful (not desirable!). ) – particularly during the colder months; 2) We wanted it to be as simple as possible to clean; 3) A low-profile design appealed to us. 4) We needed a rear vent option because we were replacing an over-the-range microwave that vented outside through the back and had all of the ductwork already installed; 5) We were working with a limited budget! The TA- All of the criteria were met by 400. I am not an expert or particularly skilled, but I will do my best to share my thoughts. I don't always review our Amazon purchases (mainly because we buy things that have already been extensively reviewed), but in this case, I felt compelled to write in support of a product that had received less attention. br>br>Shipping and Installation: • Shipping was quick, packaging was excellent, and all accessories were present. • The venting options (which included a top round vent, a top rectangular vent, and a rear rectangular vent) were well-designed. The latter is what we use. • It was simple to set up. We enlisted the help of a nearby electrician. We removed the old microwave and modified the back opening of the wall to accommodate the Tatsumaki (simple expansion of the slot on the wall to accommodate the adapter). It was securely installed on top of the cabinet. We completed the project by installing backsplash to cover the exposed back wall (the microwave was larger!). br>• Take note of the following three points: 1) It comes with open electrical wires for direct connection, but we had plugged in our microwave. The wires were plugged in by our electrician. 2) We weren't sure what to do with a dangling water line (for self-defense). tidying up). We learned about the small hole through which that should be channeled after a quick call to customer service. 3) We removed the baffle from the adapter because our duct runs through the garage, up into the attic, and then outside. Most client complaints about rattle noises, according to the CS representative, were caused by the baffle colliding with the duct or something similar. The sound is uniform when there is no baffle. br>br>Execution: br>br>Execution: br>br>Exe br>This 750 cfm range hood performs exceptionally well! There are six different speeds to choose from. It defaults to 3 mph, but you can change it to higher or lower if you want. For basic frying, we used three: Items such as eggs, hot dogs, and other similar items are available. When reheating food on the stove, we used 4 or 5, and 5 or 6 when cooking curries or fried foods. In every case, the pungent odor that used to linger in our home has vanished. In the living/dining room, there's a faint odor of food, which you'd expect if you served hot/steamy food. What surprised us was that the clothes we wore while cooking did not absorb much of the odor. The self- The cleaning process is a nice bonus feature that worked well the one time we used it. We didn't expect the hood to be whisper quiet when moving air at 750 cfm, but it isn't. It is, however, quieter than our microwave vent when running at high speed, and the fan's sound is smooth and not harsh. In terms of performance, we couldn't have asked for anything more. br>br>Evaluation: br>br>Evaluation: br>br>Evaluation: br>My only criticism is that the documentation is lacking. It included TA-related paperwork. 195/TA- 395 As a result, there were no self-help instructions. The Tatsumaki CS informed me that the production of TA-100 instruction manuals was experiencing delays. 400 br>br>Customer Service:br>During the installation, we had a question about the open water line, so I called Tatsumaki CS, and Calvin answered right away (no recorded message, no hold time, and no international call center!). The problem was solved after we exchanged photos via iMessage. Calvin and I spoke a few more times after that (about baffle, self-doubt, and so on). cleaning procedure, and so on). He either answered the phone right away or returned my call/message within a reasonable amount of time. I'm not sure if it's a one-time thing. For the time being, I'm not sure how this level of service will hold up in the long run, but for the time being, this has been the most attentive customer service I've ever encountered. br>br>Finally, I'd like to say that: br>We were a little concerned about the lack of full-size vents, so we got two fan-only vents instead. Vents, for example. We think it looks great in our kitchen after installation, but you can form your own opinion based on the images we provided. We've been using it for two weeks and are very happy with how well it works. Going forward, we anticipate smooth operations and high-quality service.

With a few reservations, I'm happy
4/5

I would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for the following reasons. br>Before purchasing a range hood, I did a lot of research. This is my first under-cabin hood, which I purchased to replace a broken microwave exhaust. It took me a long time and several tries to get the ducting to work properly for proper airflow. This is a powerful vent that requires the proper ducting to channel the air outside; otherwise, you'll have problems with air flow back, as I did at first. Once everything was in order, it was a breeze to use. The suction is extremely effective. Almost all of the cooking odor has dissipated. I make a lot of spicy, flavorful Indian food, and I could see the vent sucking up all of the smoke and odor. The aroma of cooking no longer lingers in the house as it once did. Cooking is also made much easier by the low noise levels. br>Here are a few of the flaws I found:
1. There is only one way to control the speed. To go back one level, you must complete the entire cycle.
2. There isn't a way to turn off the fans independently. So, if I have both the lights and the fan turned on, I won't be able to simply turn off the fan while keeping the lights on. br> I need to turn off the main power and then turn on the light. br>I would deduct one star for the two reasons stated above. Apart from that, this range hood has served me well so far. It's well worth the money, and it does what it says on the tin.

***Update on the LED Bulb: br>As a result, I spent some time looking for an LED bulb for the range hood. It has the uncommon S11-code. bulb of a certain size The incandescent bulb that comes with this hood does not have a bright enough LED S11 option to replace it. I was looking for a 60W equivalent, but there isn't one. br>br>On the internet, there is some strange information claiming that the S11 is based on the E17. That's not the case. The bulb socket on this hood has a medium base as of the time I bought it. To cut a long story short, get an A15 sized LED bulb and it will work perfectly! They are inexpensive ($3-$5). It's cheap ($5) and easy to find. br>br>Keep in mind that using an LED bulb involves some risk: It will be hidden behind a cover and may not be suitable for applications that require a lot of heat. The hood's bulb enclosure/cavity is vented, which may aid in heat dissipation. In terms of cooking temperatures, I'm willing to take a chance. The bulb enclosure's clear cover is, after all, made of plastic. I hope this information is useful. Two things to be aware of: br>br> br>br>I believe the circular damper shown in the installation instructions is the wrong way around. To make it work properly, remove the rubber stoppers and reinstall them the other way. Reinstalling the bottom cover is a real pain, as others have mentioned. You take it apart to finish the installation, but when you put it back together, the screw holes don't line up perfectly. I wasted a lot of time trying to close it up, and I only used two of the five screws. Apart from that, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck with this range hood. br>br>Apart from that, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck with this range hood. br>br>Apart from that, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck with this range hood. I was tempted to deduct a star because of the cover hassle, but this thing moves a lot of air, has a nice stainless finish, and I really like the controls: Simple push buttons in a great location in the front. Many of the more upscale range hoods conceal the buttons beneath the hood in ambiguous locations. The black trim piece near the controls is finished in a nice metallic finish rather than a cheap flat black. The fans make a lot of noise (making it difficult to listen to the TV while cooking). br>br>On the second day, the included 40W incandescent S11 bulb burned out. I'm looking for an LED replacement, but there aren't any 40W equivalent LED bulbs available right now. If I find one with a similar base and dimensions that will fit, I'll update this post.
