Please accept my sincere apologies for the length of time it has taken. It's a vertical discharge, as the name implies.
It is intended to be hardwired and does not come with a power cord. It can, however, be turned into a plug-in. A power cord kit, model SHCK44, is required and must be purchased separately.
The ducting runs through the center of the room.
My hood was wired so that I could connect it to an existing connection from a smaller hood in the house. If you want to plug it into a wall, I suppose you could wire a plug onto the end of the wires.

We buy the 36" stainless steel hoods for apartment units because they look nice out of the box, but the last three we've bought have had the following issues: 2 motors died (just stopped working) within 8 weeks, 1 came perfectly boxed (no shipping damage) with a 2" ding/dent on the flat front surface near the controls. I like how they look and how inexpensive they are, but I'm tired of having to install and repair them every 60 days. It might be time to upgrade to a better unit; prices have been dropping in recent months. Buyer beware: we purchased a total of 6 of these in 2018 and 50% were below average and had issues.
Today I put in a Broan 42000 series Economy vented hood. I took out a Nutone Economy vented hood from the late 1980s. The vertical outlet cutout had to be shifted forward by about a foot. After removing the fan motor and marking the cutout from below through the flange, use the new vent as a template to cut out 1/2 inch. The mounting screws were perfectly aligned with the pre-existing holes. The wiring knockout matched the old vent perfectly. So far, the new vent has performed admirably, and its appearance complements my stainless-steel kitchen upgrade.
br>When I first got it, I looked for scratches and dents, but there were none. I had to go back to Amazon to double-check that I had selected the open box / used option, which I had. br>$20 and it performs like a king! It was simple to put together because all of the necessary components were included. br>Amazon deserves credit! 5 stars !.
Overall, this is a fantastic product for the price. It's not too loud on low or high, and it has a lot of ventilation, so it serves its purpose. The following are two minor flaws that could easily be addressed:
1). The instructions could be made clearer, and wire connector caps should be included in the "TOOL LIST. "
2). SCREEN WITH GREASE "CATCH" BOWS OR BENDS INWARD TOWARDS Inexperienced installers may return if they touch the fan, preventing it from spinning. It is strongly recommended that you include a grease screen that has been upgraded by adding cross-sectional cross-sectional cross-sectional During screen creation by your suppliers, keep an eye on the motor or pick up the "slack. " br>br>Thank you, BROAN, for creating an "overall" affordable and high-quality product, with the hope that it, like its NUTONE predecessor, will last over 30 years.
It fit perfectly into the old Frigidaire hood space in the cabinets when I first got it. Because this is a rental unit for my father, I didn't want to put in anything more expensive; instead, the landlord did. I was concerned that it didn't seem to pull up as much cooking steam and grease as others had claimed, but it was satisfactory. The fan has now stopped working, but the light continues to work. The fan switch is reportedly broken, according to the landlord. My father has full-time caregivers who prepare simple meals for him, so this hood is rarely used. The hood is still attractive, but the fan switch is clearly broken. I can't say whether it's entirely a quality issue or if something went wrong during installation because I didn't do it. It isn't due to excessive or abusive use. We'll see how the one-year warranty holds up.
This range hood is fantastic. I had some help installing it, and the only issue they encountered was that the duct hole alignment had changed slightly over the last 20 years. My home was built in 1962, and the last time the hood was replaced was in 1997. On this model, the hood hole moved forward about a half inch, so it didn't line up with my duct until my neighbor who was doing the installation tweaked the exhaust pipe hole by half an inch. He had a jigsaw puzzle, thank goodness! br>br>The final product is fantastic, and I'm still glad I purchased it. It's nice to have a matching hood to my stove. The cost was reasonable, and the delivery time was excellent.
This range hood was purchased to replace our old white range hood, which was out of date. After shopping at Lowes and other stores, I went to Amazon and found this hood for a lower price, and it was incredibly simple to install. Keep in mind that if your range vent is smaller than the opening on the range hood, you may need to make a small conversion. I would recommend replacing all of the duct tape (if you have any) with new tape while you have everything down and apart. It will help you save time and money in the long run.
This hood range was purchased two months ago for a home renovation project, so it sat in the box untouched until we were ready for it (which means I missed my 30-day return window). I installed it yesterday only to discover that the light was working but the fan/motor was not. Even though it was brand new, the electrician confirmed that it had a bad motor, rendering it useless until we can get a new motor or purchase a new hood range. Talk about being let down! I contacted the manufacturer directly to see if they would replace the defective motor, but so far there has been no response. Let's hope for the best.
