According to my memory, The plastic piece was on the existing connection that was broken on mine, so I replaced it with the one that was supplied, then connected the rubber part.
From what I understand, it should be compatible with every disposal. Despite this, it is an awkward situation. Before I put the fitting on, I think I wrapped it in two layers of electrical tape just to make sure it fit nicely. There have been no leaks since installation eight months ago, and it has not been subject to constant or high pressure.
In order to determine the dishwasher's output hose size, you must measure it. The hose I had was 5/8 inches in diameter. In that case, you would need a coupler to connect the output of the dishwasher to the Therefore, this adapter should be connected to the airgap directly. the output of the dishwasher is connected to the input of the air gap That is the SMALL tube on the 'Y' on the airgap. To connect the garbage disposal to the airgap, we simply attach the output tube of the airgap (which is the LARGE tube on the airgap 'y'). At Lowes, Home Depot or here on Amazon you can purchase the couplings you need. A coupler between 5/8ths and 3/4ths of an inch is what I needed, and I found it
I figure it's about 5 inches

If you know exactly what you're doing and exactly what you need, you may order the exact parts you need for your exact situation. I suppose if you're a complete idiot and also order this part, you might as well order it too. It is advised to order this part if you are installing any type of plumbing under the sink, no matter if a garbage disposal is being installed. you turn out not to need it, just put it in the junk drawer until the day you chop it up and use its parts for something else. When I ordered some brand new snappy drain parts to go at the task a different way, I wasn't sure whether I would need these or not since I had already installed the new plumbing under the sink several times and kept getting it wrong. Thank you for ordering it. I would like to be prepared During my earlier attempts to install my new dishwasher with my newly renovated kitchen plumbing, I had to cut the drain hose on the dishwasher so that I could fit it into the pipes from the The little piece of cheap rubber with a few hose clamps came in handy and saved the day for me. In order to avoid having to take all that stuff out "AGAIN" just to replace something else I screwed up, my dishwasher drain hose could be resized to fit the new plumbing fixtures. Ordering this item is a good idea regardless of your circumstances. I'd suggest putting this part with all the other extra parts you'll have left over the next time you try to do it yourself. It's a wonderful "Just in Case" part to have. Then I will order another one "just in case" so I have one to stick in that bag of extra plastic pipes and other parts I no longer need. There will come a time when some thing will go wrong, and I'll have an extra one around to MacGyver.
My search for the right answer came to an end. My old installation (small diameter) hook-up was replaced with a new air gap installation All the way to the tailpiece (larger ID) of a drainpipe. In order to fit the dishwasher hose on the tailpiece, it had to be too small. A perfect solution was provided by this adapter. Put the plastic nibble that comes with the adapter in the dishwasher hose and you're good to go. For secure fitting of the nipple into the hose, use the smallest clamp off the adapter. Place the middle clamp on the nipple and secure it with the adapter. After cutting two of the larger diameters off the adapter, I got the diameter I had to use on the tailpiece by cutting off two more. There are four different sizes of nipples that this adapter can accommodate depending on the end of the hose. Install the final clamp to secure to the tailpiece and the problem is solved.
The leak happened after I installed it. After tightening the hose clamps both times, the hose continued to leak. This rubber/silicone part had two grooves in it (probably d) Which permits water to leak and pass through. After tightening the hose clamps, I used other clamps I had on hand. There are cheap metal hose clamps that are included with it, but it still leaks. To seal, I put a bead of silicone around the inside of the seal, let it dry, and then I removed it.
The rubber walls are very thick, and I may be able to gouge some out to put on the pipe, but I'll just keep it for another job and learn not to buy anything without proper dimensions.
Permanent fix at a low cost.
I was able to install my DW properly using this coupling. I would buy this product There was only a need to replace outdated code with a better one.
This is a solid All hose clamps must be tightened before installation. Easy to install.
As an adapter fitting, you should just get clamps compatible with it if you are going to use this. These ones are of poor quality and cannot seal properly enough so there will be no leaks. I ended up using the rubber as an adapter but I still give it a 4 out of 5.
