Compared with a standard water filter, the Samsung removes chlorine, mercury, lead, pesticides, herbicides, and pharmaceuticals according to Samsung. Lead will be removed, so yes, it works.
There have been a few times I've changed this filter and it works well. When it comes to the ice maker of an RF23M8070SR/AA Samsung refrigerator, I believe it might be a problem. The ice maker on this model has been prone to problems in the past (read problems began after about a year of owning the product. I think it is an ice maker that is poorly designed. There is always jammed ice for us to clear out, and the ice maker constantly needs defrosting. I have been extremely satisfied with how well the refrigerator has worked.
This water filter cannot be used with this model number it needs to be the Samsung DA29-D This is 000020B.
That's not a model that can be used with this attachment, according to Samsung's website. There was no mention of that model number on the website.

It is definitely the correct part number, but it won't fit on my Samsung refrigerator (model shown in photos). My intention was to replace a filter that had the same exact model number as the new filter.
