Questions & Answers

Can you give me a rough measurement of the length of the compression hose when fully extended on the dryer side of the product?

12 inches is the diameter of the compression hose. The full length of the extension is 5 inches. With your dryer fully installed, as you push the hose back into place, the magnets automatically align and the length of the hose is compressed to approximately 3 inches.

Can I use this with an exhaust vent that is approximately 2 inches higher than my dryer exhaust (creating an Wouldn't it be better if it lined up perfectly straight?

MV- The MagVent Vent If you have 180 or MV-1, choose that one. The 90 will work with an offset of between 2" and 3". In order to accommodate the turn radius for the hose alignment, the dryer will have to be extended out from the wall a couple inches. It is a pleasure to hear from you.

Is this motor compatible with your dryer on top of a pedestal 10 inches high?

It is important that you determine how far the vent of your dryer is from your exit vent when choosing the correct MagVent model. As part of the MV-W When your dryer's vent is directly aligned with a wall vent in a straight line, the MV-180 is the perfect product for you. When measuring from the center of the vent to the center of the vent, 180 can tolerate an offset of up to 3 inches before developing a kink in the self-aligning piston. Getting the hose in the right position. You must keep in mind that for every inch of offset, you will need an extra inch of clearance behind the dryer for the slight bend radius of As long as the MV-axis is aligned directly, There is a clearance requirement of 4 inches for 180. You need at least 5 inches between your vents if they are one inch off-center. The offset is 2 inches, so there is a 6 inch clearance required. It requires a clearance of 7 inches with a maximum 3 inch offset. If your vent path takes a 90 degree turn, or your vents are separated by at least 9 inches, then the MagVent MV-90 is right for you It is the 90 that you need. If you need more than 9 inches of offset, the MV-90 will do The 90-degree elbow should be mounted directly behind the dryer's exhaust vent and combine with a standard 90-degree As part of the MV-W A 90 degree bend can withstand an offset of up to 3 inches without kinking the self-inking tube Getting the hose in the right position. During direct alignment, an extra inch of clearance is needed for every inch of offset, and 5 1/2 inches of clearance is needed for a direct alignment. In the case of vents 3 inches apart or more, or if you use the MV-2665, you must use vented enclosures In order for the MagVent MV-90 to function properly, it will have to make too many 90 degree turns in the vent path It is best to use the Flex model. There is no self-help component to it Although it gives you more options when it comes to vent alignment, it does give you more leeway. As a result of Using the Flex product, you supply the length of hose and manually connect the magnets, but once your dryer is in position you still use the shortest piece of hose possible to connect the magnets. Having this type of hose eliminates the common, overly long transition hose, which gets crushed or obstructed into place once the dryer is pushed in.

THEY DIDN'T INVENT THIS 50 YEARS AGO, SO WHY DID THEY? I found it to be very useful
5/5

There is no invention I have seen better than this. The magnetically connected device fits perfectly. It is easy to install! You don't have to worry about stretched The dryer hose has been a source of contention between my husband and me for 50 years. When I say fought the hose, I mean fought it in a confined space, sometimes having to jump over the dryer or washer to get to it. It is 69 when I am married to 73 when he is. This is no easy task. It only takes a few clicks to install this product Mount one piece on the outside wall, attach the second piece to the back of the dryer, and scoot it back to the What a shock! As long as the hoses are aligned, it does not have to be perfectly straight. As shown in our example, the wall hole is to the left of four or five feet There are 6 inches of product. It was very easy to mount the dryer after I scooted it back. The magnet has such a great deal of power. It was my husband who used a yard stick to make sure the alignment was perfect. That's exactly what happened! As a result, I can now easily clean behind my This is the best book I've ever read!.

I am so happy that things are going so well
5/5

There's no need to worry about the details of this vent, it's so simple, you'll be wondering why you didn't think about it before. Please see  " is the simplest and easiest way I have ever encountered to save me from aggravation. My dryer went from an almost flush appearance with loops or annoying extra tubing behind the dryer to the dreaded dryer dragon of metallic tubing behind the dryer. I installed it in about 30 minutes with the help of a drill, tin snips, and a screwdriver. In each case, there was about an inch of discrepancy between the height of the dryer outlet and the receiver in the wall. It only took one reseating of the magnet and one adjustment on the flex hose to fix it. was able to put the dryer on now, and I see no heat leakage occurring There is nothing I would rather do than be happy. The only change I would like to report is if there are any unforeseen issues as we use it more. Otherwise, it is great.

The product and customer service were great
5/5

Sometimes I'm not very critical in my reviews, but I really liked this one. However, I really like this product, and we had a good experience with the company. The idea is great, but if you go to their website to check out the different options before you buy, you are sure to make the right decision. When I ordered an option for my dryer, it didn't quite fit. The supplied duct could not reach close enough to the wall to allow for the dryer to be pushed against the wall. If I had looked at their website, I might have found an option that would have been Finally, the service person was able to assist me with the right solution, and it works great. From my point of view, this is worth every penny. This makes it much easier to clean behind the dryer. You could associate the product with whenever you have had to move your dryer beyond the range of the exhaust duct, clean or replace the exhaust duct. This thing makes attaching and removing the exhaust duct from the wall exit (or wherever) quite As far as I am concerned, it You should definitely give it a try.

If you need zero or limited access to it, buy it
5/5

There was no other way, but this worked! It needed only two inches of wall to protrude from the duct and the flange did not have to be cut to fit on the It is possible to mount the flange directly to the wall to achieve zero clearance. A sheet metal screw holds the piece in place. As instructed, the dryer side used the provided hose clamp.

(When it comes to dryers) this is the coolest invention I've seen yet
5/5

The dryer I use is a double dryer Unlike a regular dryer, it hangs high (on the bottom is a regular dryer and on top is a sweater cabinet dryer). I have always had trouble hooking it up to my As far as connections were concerned, there were only two options The dryer could be connected to the outlet using either 3 feet of hose (which would get kinked up when pushed back) or by using a short length of flanged pipe and aligning it with the outlet prior to pushing it into place. As a result of its height, you could not see over the top to align the dryer properly, so the washer had to be pulled out in order to align the dryer. In the past, two or three people would come to this meeting An operation involving at least one person. The MagVent put an end to all of I found the installation to be straightforward. After installing the MagVent, it took more time to clean up the mess behind the dryer than to install it. Mounting the bracket and magnet on the external vent was as simple as sliding them on and clamping them into It had to be shortened a bit on the dryer side, but once it was shortened it slid right on to the dryer and was secured by a My fingers were sore from pushing the dryer back into its slot, but I could hear the "click" as the magnetic coupling closed perfectly with Having only one person install it was simple, quick, and took only a few minutes. It won't be necessary for me to pull out the dryer again to clean up lint that used to escape with the old coupling thanks to such a good seal.

Improved, but needs more work
3/5

It is difficult to hold the wall anchors in place. There is too much height in the screw heads and they hit the back of the magnet on the wall side when the magnet is snapped Snapping into place leads to a change in the wall side flange which allows the pieces to sit in a gap once in place. Despite its strength, the magnet is able to hold itself together fairly well. It is very difficult for the dryer to misalign with the wall exhaust pipe. This is my second purchase, and I hoped the product had been improved since the first purchase. There is still a lack, especially when you consider the price. I don't know a better choice. Wish there were more options. Whenever I join these two pieces, I'm most concerned about the gap between them. Yes, you can jam a broom stick back there and try to fix it but that is the wrong way to do it. There is a gap, but it is no longer flat, so it is more of one piece rocking on another. *Update 1/2021
Our new washer and dryer set were terrible, so we returned them. We're working on developing a silicone flange gasket in order to minimize leakage. My initial response to the gap between the mating pieces was to slip fit a 4" duct connector into the connector on the hose side of the hose. There is basically a lip that slides into the wall mount piece by about a half inch when the two pieces are connected. The original part has a small lip on one side. This makes it very The 4" duct connector can be found for a few bucks on Amazon. In order to make it two inches long, I cut the length in half. In addition to sealant tape, foil tape was used to tape the inside edges of slip fittings. Although it can be frustrating to have to bother with an item that's already expensive, it works perfectly now every time.
