Questions & Answers
We have a 50-year-old Maytag "heavy duty" washing machine. The lint screen was listed as being replaceable, and it turned out to be true. With time and use, it actually becomes more snug and perfect. I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to comment on Amana. I'd be inclined to believe it if it's listed as suitable for your model.
Hello,br>Yes, this is the correct lint filter for your Maytag model DE410 dryer. br>Thank you very much.
Yes, that is the model number for my dryer, and it works perfectly.
I'm completely unaware that I'm not employed by Maytag.

We've had this dryer for 35 years and had two of the original gray lint traps, which worked fine until a tear or separation of the filter from the frame caused lint to exit onto our laundry room deck. I ordered this one believing it to be an OEM, despite the fact that it was white rather than gray, as the originals were. br> The new white plastic frame is made of a thinner, less stout material, and when it heats up, the top of the trap (the handle section) distorts and opens up a quarter-inch gap across the top length of the trap, allowing lint to pass, as well as accumulate (which is how I know it's flowing through the gap) at the gap's edge. The sides of the part are quite tight. At first glance, I thought the top section might not be wide enough, but after a few loads, I noticed that the plastic material used in this lint trap is inferior to that used in OEM parts. When the dryer's heat is applied, the top section deforms, pulls back toward the interior, and opens an un-sealed gap, allowing lint to pass outside. Cutting corners on materials in extreme heat applications is NOT the way to go!.
Our old Maytag dryer is still running thanks to Mr Lonely. However, someone didn't take care when removing the lint filter, and it was broken several times to the point where we couldn't glue or repair it. These were discovered, and they appeared to be the original version, and the price was reasonable. The molding, on the other hand, isn't uniform, and the two sides that must slide into the dryer's slot are visibly deformed, with the top side being wider than the bottom. To fully seat the filter, you'll need two hands, and to remove it, you'll need two hands. My mother either lacks the strength (or the technique) to remove it, which means that whoever broke the first one will almost certainly break this one as well - or simply refuses to take it off to clean it before or after each use. Paying the extra money for an OEM replacement is highly recommended.
The designer failed to consider the realities of life. Clearly, the screen's functionality was never tested by the designer. I've had to replace the screen a few times because it's flimsy. When inserting and removing the plastic frame from the slot, it bends. This review is a slap in the face for Maytag's otherwise sterling reputation. Would I buy it again? br>br>Would I recommend it to others? I'm confident that as long as this dryer is in service, I'll continue to be a loyal customer until I find a better option.
sort of. So it wasn't an exact match for my Maytag, but it came pretty close. To make it easier to slide in, I used a razor blade on both sides. I didn't have to remove much, but it still sits a little higher on the slot than the old one. A wire mesh appears to be present. I wish I could have found my Maytag model number in the compatibility list, but it appears that ours is too old, which says a lot about the model DG482.
This is the ideal size for my Maytag dryer, which is 35 years old. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to replace the lint screen, which had developed holes and had reached the end of its useful life. This lint screen fits, and the screen part is made of metal rather than nylon, so it appears to be very stable. br>I'm thrilled to be able to replace the lint screen on my incredibly capable dryer while also saving time.
But, when our old filter wore out and I had to replace it, I had no idea how much more efficient and easy to clean a new filter would be. It's time to replace this item more frequently! I'm very pleased.
I was skeptical because my Maytag Dryer is over 30 years old, and I only recognized it by comparing the old screen to the one I ordered in a photograph. I'm extremely pleased.
The dryer is obviously 40 years old, so it's not perfect, but it's a great dupe. I just used some tape to close the very narrow gap.
