We're on our fourth LG dryer replacement filter because clothes get caught on the filter's edge and twisted, ruining both the clothes and the filter. br>br>When I put the filter in today, I noticed that it didn't seem to fit snugly (which is why clothes get tangled on it). When I looked down in the tight space where the filter sits, I saw that it was PACKED with lint, causing the filter to sit loosely. We clean our dryer ducts and lint filter after each load—this has never happened with any of the other dryers we've owned. While the vacuum hose was running, I used a knitting needle to loosen the lint and push it to the top. It was enough to fill half of my vacuum canister! I'm surprised my house hasn't caught fire yet. br>br>Hoping that was the issue all along, and I'll be sure to check it out next time I clean my washing machine.
During tumbling, our old lint filter caught clothes on the end piece. When we opened the door after the dry cycle was completed, an article of clothing would be stuck on. It was difficult to untangle the end, which had twisted up so tightly. This isn't good for our clothes in the least! The filter's screen was also tearing. After doing some research, we discovered that this is a common issue caused by lint buildup in the bottom of the trap where the filter sits, preventing the filter from seating properly. The lint was difficult to reach and remove, but the new lint filters fit perfectly once they were installed. We were overjoyed to discover this replacement part and purchased the two-pack after learning how common this problem is.
Our old filter was fraying and tearing, so we knew we needed to replace it. Initial online searches indicated that it would be expensive, but then I came across this product, which arrived quickly and was simple to install. PRO TIP: br>br> When removing the old filter, make sure to clean out all the excess lint with a lint brush or some other tool. You'd be amazed at how much "extra" lint accumulates beneath the filter over time!.
The height of this lint filter is excessive. See how it's lined up in the bottom photo, but the top is too high? The part number is correct. It's just shoddy workmanship. Too bad. It was packaged nicely.
Thanks!.
(These are the two- for- the- price-of- It was only necessary to use one filter. It was especially useful when I washed the newspaper by accident. It disintegrated in the washer, and the ensuing shambles dried into specks in the dryer. Fortunately, my new filter was able to capture everything. All I had to do was wipe down the inside of the dryer, the inside of the washer, the washer drain (into the basement sink), and the lint exhaust. br>Dumb mistake, but thanks to the new filter, it was a quick fix!.
It fits perfectly and is well-made. Filter is made of stainless steel mesh. It has a lighter-weight plastic frame than the original, but it's unclear whether this will shorten its lifespan. Given the price, this is a great alternative to the original and a good buy.
