I accidentally damaged our existing cooktop, so instead of paying a service technician or replacing a $1500 stove, I looked for a replacement and came across this. After watching a few YouTube videos, I decided to try my hand at a DIY project. br>br>The first top arrived with a shattered glass top. These are shipped in an OEM carton that is intended for shelf storage and local delivery by an appliance repair service, not for UPS/USPS or similar shipping. There is only a 1" layer of polystyrene foam wedged between the glass top and each carton side, and there is no crush zone to protect this large sheet of glass. Any impact could (and did) shatter the glass without causing the carton to dent. Between the cartons, the seller should place "peanuts" or another crushable material. Regardless, they promptly refunded my money (I simply emailed them a photo of the shattered top still in its carton). They didn't want the shattered top returned at all. (Can you imagine what they'd do with it? ) I placed a second order and advised them to double-box it. They didn't get there, but this one did. br>br>Installation was simple, as demonstrated by YouTube videos. It took me about 2 hours to complete this task - being extremely cautious – Someone who is more skilled might be able to complete the task in half the time. A Philips screwdriver was the only tool required. br>br>The top is in excellent condition and appears to be new. It is, after all. We probably saved a couple hundred dollars in service labor, and an hour or two on a rainy Saturday afternoon was well worth it.
This is an exact replica of the shattered cooktop. It arrived promptly and in good condition (a pleasant surprise, given my recent bad luck). The only thing I'd like to point out is that the old cooktop has a metal strip in the back that needs to be replaced with this one. The installer didn't use one and never mentioned it in the YouTube video I watched to learn how to do it myself. I, of course, tossed the broken one into the trash without noticing because I was oblivious. With the stove slid back into place, we noticed the gap at the back (approximately 1/2 inch) and realized what had happened. There's no need to be concerned. It's as good as new after three screws!.

I just got a new one at the end of January: (A 9-month life expectancy is insufficient!) I didn't save $10 by shopping on Amazon, and it wasn't worth it! For an OEM glass top from partsdr, I paid a little more and only had to pay $10 in shipping. com Here's hoping that my OEM part lasts longer than 9 months, and that it, unlike this one, comes with a warranty.
For my stove, this was exactly what I needed. You can't go wrong with OEM parts because they have the best fit and alignment.
After watching a short video, we were able to easily install our new glass top. I realize it isn't for everyone, but it was simple for us because of our repair background. I like that there isn't a large crack in the back right corner. For a higher price range, this was a simple fix.
