Questions & Answers

Is this product covered by a warranty?

This is a piece of garbage. After only a 200-mile journey, I was extremely disappointed. It was ripped apart by the wind and light rain while being shot with a shotgun. I initially mistook it for a fake, but it turned out to be a genuine Thule product.

Is it possible to lock this? Is there a way to secure it to the rack?

The zippers can be secured using a luggage lock. securing the rack to it - not sure.

Will any of the thule bags fit between two bikes on the roof with the proride? Or, to put it another way, which thule bag can I attach between the bikes?

Thank you for contacting Thule and inquiring about their services. Yes, this is possible. The bags are versatile in this way.

Will the bag fit in a van with only side bars and no front or back bars?

If there are no crossbars available, you can attach to the side rails. Use side anchoring rings and position bag so that at least one set of rings is forward of the side rail center support post when mounting to roof racks with only side rails. Complete pictured instructions are included in the box with this Thule bag.

Shredded
3/5

I looked into cargo bags and decided on this one. I packed three duffels in it, but the seam was ripping by day two of the trip. The back was shredded by the fourth day. To tie the duffels down, I bought some rope. As you can see in the photo, the entire back end (zipped part) was shredded.

shoddy workmanship - warranty is void - I'm not going to buy anything else
3/5

Last summer, I bought the product and used it in October for a trip to Illinois and back to California. Rain for a couple of days and strong winds on the way back were the only weather conditions I encountered. On the way to Illinois, the bag began to tear. It was pretty shredded by the time I got back. I've been looking for a replacement because I couldn't return to Amazon - They gave their approval in November. That being said, they've now pushed back the date they'll send me a replacement three times, from November to December, and then again on January 4th. I have yet to receive a replacement, and it occurs to me that something that is on backorder (as they claim) should not be for sale. It is, however, true. I'm left wondering if the "it's on backorder" story is true. I'll never see a replacement because of a story? br>br>My advice to anyone who sees this is to make the product out of ripstop material that can withstand rain and wind. As it stands, the product isn't very good. Thule, in particular. I would not purchase this and would instead seek out a different brand.

This product is not intended to be used for an extended period of time
3/5

We traveled to Indiana on two separate occasions from Texas. With a few duffle bags in it, the bag held up well on the first trip. The bag ripped in several places on the second trip. It appeared to be well-constructed, but it turned out to be of low quality. I've filed a warranty claim with Thule, and I'll keep you updated as soon as I get a response.

Cargo bag that is both sturdy and quiet
4/5

I used this cargo bag to transport my daughter's belongings to college, and I was blown away by how sturdy it is while perched atop the roof. First and foremost, it was extremely quiet as long as the straps were tucked away to avoid flapping in the wind. When the bag was on top, it never moved. I did, however, make my own straps to secure it to the front rail and prevent it from sliding backwards. These should be included in the package, but they aren't. We actually packed the bag inside first before putting it on top of the car because it is very light. The zippers are well-sewn and do not appear to be prone to ripping or failure. We drove for about an hour and a half, and I had read ahead of time that the pack was not waterproof. It rained for 5 hours. I was prepared because I had already packed everything inside in garbage bags and vacuum-sealed bags. I'm glad I did because there was water in the bottom of the bag. The top and sides, however, are not included. Nothing bad happened, but our belongings would have gotten wet if I hadn't wrapped them all up. I love that once we were done unpacking, I simply took the bag off the roof, folded it up, and stowed it in the trunk of my car. I would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the straps they chose are difficult to tighten onto the rack. They should also include locking straps because the bag, as well as its contents, would be extremely easy to steal from a car. Last but not least, they should have stabilizer straps to prevent the bag from sliding backwards.

Scam - They don't last six months (as evidenced by the poor reviews)
3/5

This phony product was delivered to me at the end of last year. It was used on two trips before being discovered to have major holes on the top on the third trip. I initially assumed it had been hit by a rock or something, but that was not the case. Because there are scratches all over the top, it's the product's quality. THE BAG BREAKS ON THE FOLDED AREAS WHEN IT IS FOLDED. Unless you want to BURN your money, I do not recommend this product. The customer service department will inform you that: "Unfortunately, we are unable to assist you with your request; however, we recommend that you contact Amazon for a product return or refund. " DISCLAIMER: DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT.

Update: This is a pretty good rooftop carrier
4/5

On the standard side rails of our 2015 Toyota RAV4, I have a Yakima system (round crossbars) attached. According to the manufacturer, this bag can be used with only side rails. However, I'm not sure how that's even possible. Only cross bars can be used with the two attachment straps on the front and back of the bag. Because the attachment straps are located near the bottom of the bag, they do not "hold the bag down" on the vehicle's roof. They simply secure the bag from side to side and from front to back. To secure the bag to the roof, I added additional ratchet straps over the top. br>br>Because this is a soft-sided bag, it is deformed by the force of wind at highway speeds. However, the bag, along with the additional straps, performed admirably on our 700-mile journey to South Carolina. br>br>According to some reviews, this bag isn't completely waterproof. That is correct! I suppose it's waterproof. I followed another reviewer's advice and placed all of our bags in plastic garbage bags before loading the roof carrier, which I am glad I did. We were driving through light rain at times. There is nothing to be afraid of. When I unloaded the carrier at our destination, there was moisture inside of it. If we had driven through torrential rain, I can't imagine how much water would have gotten in. br>br>The bag is made of thick materials, and the zipper and cover flap appear to be well-made. I would have given it five stars if the attachment straps were placed in such a way that the bag could be attached more securely. Also, there's no provision for side rail attachments, which is absurd. I'm not concerned with whether or not the bag is "waterproof. " Covering luggage in plastic bags is a low-cost and simple insurance option. Overall, it's a "pretty good" rooftop carrier. br>br> It is made of heavy-duty materials. However, the attachment system could benefit from some design changes to make it more secure. Attachment points on the sides should also be included. Pack your luggage in plastic bags if you want it to be waterproof. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Regarding side attachment points, I need to clarify my previous remarks. Thule does provide attachment rings on the sides of the bags, which can be seen upon closer inspection. The rings are a part of the side straps that secure the bag's cover. They probably expect you to move the straps from the front and back rings to the side rings. Given this discovery, all I ask is that they add four more straps to the bag so that it can be secured on both sides as well as front and back.
