It is not thick, but very cute, and it is As it is not thick, you will have to layer quite a lot to use it in the Midwest during winter, but it is waterproof and very cute

Though it is a couple of sizes too big, my daughter will still be able to wear it over time, and will grow into it as she does. As the hood is designed to allow it to fit over a helmet rather than be cinched down by Midwesterners on windy days. It would be nice if the hood could be cinched Having trouble finding kids' coats that aren't babyish and also have room for a matching beanie is one of my daughter's biggest frustrations. She loves it and we also bought a matching hat and both are great.
