Does the sole of the shoe resist punctures?

It's not really a big deal. Soft, super flexible rubber is used for the soles.

Has there been a zipper added to these?

Usually they don't participate but it's quite easy to slip your feet in anyway. My favorite pair is actually an O'Neill pair that has a zipper, but I have another thicker pair which I prefer.

They feel good, are warm, and last a long time. I tend to have wide feet, so please consider that prior to your purchase.

We don't want our booties to get wet

This bootie is all I have ever worn for years, but it is now without the ankle strap, so it lets water in more. The size has also changed. My usual size is a little larger now, so I get even more water into my system. It is possible that I will have to get.
