Questions & Answers
It is dependent on the temperature of your water. In Wisconsin, we refer to winter fishing as "ice fishing," so it wouldn't suffice here. If you don't have ice, I think they'd be fine for a short time; I've worn them kayaking in the early spring and late fall and haven't fallen in yet. yet.
More information should be provided in response to the question. If there isn't any, I'd say: "Only for short icebergs from Coney Island-" On New Year's Day, you can go for a swim in style. Otherwise, it's far too confining and dense. It wasn't supposed to be that tight around the waist to keep it from turning into a drag chute when the water came in. I'm not sure what conditions and distances you're referring to, but surfers and divers would wear 2 or 3 mm wet suits. Because none of us were designed for long distances, chaffing will occur at some point.

Exactly what I needed, and it was very warm on the water, even though it was 20 degrees outside.
Great pants, true to size, warm and comfortable. I've used them on whitewater in temperatures as low as 28°F and have been pleased with them.
Beautiful pants with a nice tight fit to keep me warm. I've run 30+ miles in them and still enjoy them.
