Questions & Answers

What temperature should you use it for? The water temperature in San Diego in March is 58°F. ?

This was my first wet suit, which I bought in Santa Barbara for surfing. It hasn't been too bad because the water temperature is similar to SD's, and I pride myself on my ability to withstand cold water. Everyone in this area has a 4-star rating. However, there are three for the winter. For longer sessions that go into the night or on a windy day, I sometimes feel like I could use one that was a little thicker.

I need a 2xls (5'8") based on the size chart. 5"; 215 pounds), but that size is not available for purchase. When are the 2xls going to be available?

My husband is 6' 235 pounds, 38 inches in waist, and wears an XXL.

My height is 6 feet 3 inches, my weight is 160 pounds, and my chest measurement is 37 inches. Would a st be the best option based on your chart?

My O'Neill has just arrived. I'm 6'4" to 6'5" tall and weigh about 165 pounds. The Medium/Tall is an excellent choice. Leg length could be a tad shorter.

Which size is best for someone who weighs 80 pounds?

No idea. It is determined by the dimensions of the body rather than the weight. A child who is 3 feet tall and weighs 80 pounds will need a different size than an adult who is 5 feet tall and weighs 80 pounds.

This fall and winter, I'm looking forward to comfortable, warm surf sessions with this suit
4/5

Just a quick note about my trustworthiness and expertise. For the past 55 years, I've been longboarding in Southern California and have worn dozens of wetsuits from all the major brands. I'm easy to please, but difficult to fit in with. br>I recently received my O'Neill 3/2 Reactor 2 and found the materials to be of excellent quality and well-assembled. I was hesitant to order an O'Neill because of my previous experience with O'Neills appearing to be built for tall, slender individuals (which I am neither), but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to give O'Neill another chance for my future business at this price (1/3 the cost of my current fullsuit). br>I am a 5-year-old girl. 10/210 lbs and a beer belly Like a 1950s wrestler, this barrel has a 45" chest and 36" waist. I ordered an XL suit based on the sizing chart and previous experience with XLS suits being too tight. br>The good news is that with the new super-stretch fabric, the XL suit is no longer too tight. The suit was easy to put on and take off because it was made of stretch materials. (OK, Wetsox came in handy, and I'd recommend them to anyone. ) ) It was a good fit without being too tight, and the neck, wrists, and ankles are all watertight. In the arms and legs, it wasn't baggy. The bad news is that (1) the neck was a little tight on my 18" neck and may become uncomfortable over time; and (2) I couldn't get the zipper started up without my laughing wife's help. (I've always thought wetsuits should come with a tab at the base of the spine to hold on to while pulling up the zipper. ) I frequently have one made at a local suit repair shop. )br>When the water temperatures in this area drop next month, I'll put the suit through its paces with a few surf sessions. If any inconsistencies are discovered, as well as how it performs, I will update this review.

THE ZIPPER IS NOT STAYING UP, O'Neal
3/5

I have the same complaint as so many other people who have written negative reviews about this suit. The zipper isn't going to stay in place. O'Neal, what are you doing? What a load of nonsense. Over the years, I've purchased a number of wetsuits. Some were no-name, low-cost brands, and even they were able to keep the zipper in place. I gave it two stars because I really like how it fits. Armpits are smooth and do not irritate the skin when used for long periods of time. The entire time I'm surfing, I feel like a woody doll from Toy Story yanking on my string. Such a letdown. I recall when O'Neal was a good brand. br>br>I figured out a way to make it work. Make a rectangle out of a small piece of plastic. In this case, I used the spice jar lid's door. On one side, drill two holes and sew the plastic into the zipper path like a door that closes beneath the zipper. Take down some notes, O'Neal. See pics.

Wetsuit for a low price! The money was well spent
5/5

The fit is perfect! I'm 6'0" and a medium fits like it was custom tailored for me (I'll post my measurements to help others who are on the fence about sizing like me). The collar seal was extremely effective, with no seepage from the zipper or stitches. Overall, this is an excellent value for money product. If you're looking for a budget-friendly wetsuit, this is the one to get. My dimensions are as follows: br>
Neck: 5"br>Sleeve: 37"br>Chest: 5"br>Bust: 37"br>Bust: 37"br>Bust: 37" 34"br>32"br>Inseam: 34"br>34"br>34"br>34"br>34"br>34"br>34"br 34"br>Weight: 34"br> 155lbs.

Damaged or defective
3/5

I only wore this wetsuit for two surf sessions before the seam ripped. Damaged or defective products that were not purchased directly from O'Neill will not be accepted for return. I'm extremely disappointed, and I'll be purchasing from a different company in the future.

Suit that is both affordable and of good quality
5/5

This suit is exactly what I was looking for, and it fits true to size. I wanted something a little thicker and more flexible than my 1 mm neoprene, but not as thick and inflexible as some 3 mm full neoprene suits can be. The Reactor is made of a variety of flexible materials and is very comfortable to wear. It's not in the least bit stiff or bulky. I'm 5'10" and 165 pounds, and the medium fits me perfectly; I'm right in the middle of each medium measurement spec. I'm confident in my ability to zip up the suit. For the price, this seems to be a good suit.

This new O'Neill 3M/2M suit looks fantastic, and I can't wait to try it out
5/5

Exactly what I needed! The length of the zip-up leash is ideal. If any water does get in through the cuffs on the sleeves and ankles, it will be a small amount. I could already feel my body heat retaining in the suit, so I'm confident I won't shiver at depths of 25 and 30 feet. I'll post another update after my first freedive at Blakely Mountain Dam in Lake Ouachita in a few weeks. I floated like a cork last year in a Dark Lightning 3 mm wetsuit. I suppose that would be a good thing if you were snorkeling because you wouldn't have to work as hard to stay afloat. However, there were two major flaws. First, water seeped into my sleeves and ankles, which I tried to avoid, and yes, it was freezing. You want to stay warm as a freediver, but you don't want to exhaust yourself swimming down 15 or 20 feet. The Dark Lightning suit wore me out because I didn't have enough air to enjoy the dive when I got to the bottom of the lake because I kicked so hard to keep from floating back up to the surface. According to the reviews on the O'Neill, the suit isn't very buoyant, which will be a big plus if that's the case. Also, hopefully this year, I'll be making the trip to Beaver Lake to visit their dive park, and from what I've read, the water there is much colder than most Arkansas lakes, but there's plenty to see. After my first successful excursion with my new O'Neill wetsuit, I promise to update this review. I am 5'11" and 170 lbs. as a reference point for the fit. I went with the standard M size, which worked out perfectly in terms of fit.

Fits perfectly and performs admirably at the specified temperatures
5/5

In the summer, the ocean temperature in the Bay Area can reach 55 degrees Fahrenheit. For beach days, I like to have a wetsuit so I can stay in the water for longer than a few minutes. This is an excellent suit for the job. It is also simple to enter and exit. Depending on your local water temperatures, I believe it would also be a good suit for surfing. There are always new materials on the market that claim to be "more stretchy," "less restrictive," and so on. For surfing, however, I believe that materials have improved so much across the board in the last few decades that the price difference between a modestly priced suite like this one and the more expensive "super flexible" suits is becoming insignificant.
