For my 8-year-old daughter, I bought this Perception kids paddle. It's shorter than most standard (adult) paddles, making it easier to handle and maneuver for kids. It's also smaller and lighter (under 2 lbs), making it ideal for smaller hands. The two-piece system is also convenient to store. My only gripe is that there is a small amount of wiggle between the two pieces when the paddle is put together. Although it isn't particularly noticeable, I was aware of it right away. I still believe that a child's paddle is a good value at $40. And it makes my daughter much happier than a bigger, heavier paddle. So it was, in my opinion, a wise investment.
The blades appear to be sturdy, though I wish they were a little bigger, and it worked better for my eight-year-old grandson than the all-plastic one we have. Arrived.
Paddle is fantastic. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it if you're kayaking with small children.
When I emailed the company with a question, they promptly responded and answered it. I would strongly suggest it!.
