It is not what is shown in the picture. The quality of the material is low and it is cheap and lightweight. They do not have symmetrical shapes at all, which makes them appear cheap and aesthetically unpleasing. There was no consideration of how the product will actually look on your car, because it was simply cut off from a long strap. It is also extremely fragile feeling to hold the rubber piece.
I have supported this company in the past, but this is a low quality product because it does not look like the picture / doesn't match what It's OK I ordered what I wanted. I wouldn't buy it again based on what I received.
My straps work fine and, once I figured out the best spot to place them, they take no longer than two seconds to install and remove. wish their length was either an inch or two longer due to the fact that our trunk door is a little cramped, so only about an inch or two. Although one and a half inches of this piece are protruding, it can still be used.
The anchors I needed were to tie my canoe to the front of my mini-van I have used them twice in the van and have had no problems. I have not encountered any problems with them moving position once the hood is installed. They appear sturdy enough to last, but I guess we'll have to wait and see how well they work.
The straps for my canoe do the job of anchoring, so these were just what I needed. We would prefer if the part that goes under the hood was just a bit thicker. You have to find the right "sweet spot" or you will lose control. In any case, they do a good job and are well made.
During the process of ordering a rooftop mount for a kayak, a last minute purchase of a J craddle popped up. This is exactly what I was looking for! The tie downs are easy to find under the hood and in the trunk and are useful for adding security to kayaks. You won't have to drill holes in the floor of the vehicle to attach anything!.
Two of these sets were purchased for use in securing kayaks to the hood and trunk of a car. The straps are not my only option for holding the weight, they are only a backup. Getting straps that I can run through the factory tow hooks is not necessary since they are stronger than I expected.
Depending on how you want to attach straps to these loops on an angled hatchback door, you may have to use tape to hold them in place (on the sloped opening) until you close the hatch and secure the straps. To make temp holding easier, I may even adhere a small piece of velcro to these loops that connect to the mating surface of the car interior.
