Questions & Answers

What good is a blunt knife if it's useless?

A "diver's tool" is another name for this type of diver's knife. The diver can explore objects of interest with the blunt end, using it as a "tool" to pry rather than cut. br>The sharp edges continue to serve their primary purpose of releasing entangled divers by cutting away entangling fishing lines or nets.

Is there an elastic strap that connects to the thighs?

Yes, there are two rubber leg straps included.

Is the knife sharp when you get it?

When I received the knife, the smooth blade was disappointingly dull. It took a lot of work to get it to be as sharp as it is now. Aside from that, the knife is of good quality, and the serrated side does not require any work.

What is the exact weight of this weapon with and without the sheath?

The knife and sheath (without straps) have a combined weight of 7. 5 oz, and the knife alone (without the sheath) weighs 4 oz. 5 oz. Thanks.

Knife is excellent
4/5

Sheath is dreadful, dreadful, dreadful, dreadful The knife is fantastic in and of itself. I haven't had to deal with any sharks or underwater terrorists yet, but it has done an excellent job of finishing off helpless, weaker sea creatures so that they can safely make their way into my tacos. br>br>However, the sheath/holster is a complete turd, with only a few small grains/granules jamming the mechanism unless you dive somewhere with absolutely no sand. After a while, I realized it was easier to gently bend the top part of the sheath back while manually moving the mechanism a few times, rather than dismantling the entire thing after each dive. Unfortunately, when the knife is securely in place, it doesn't give you a satisfying "snap" - I can't feel or hear anything through a pair of freediving gloves underwater, at least not that I can tell. I can see myself losing this knife in a hurry due to a false "catch" in the mechanism that leads me to believe it is secure when it isn't.

I'm on my second ProMate knife, and it's a great value
5/5

This knife was razor-sharp right out of the box, and it was well-suited to any cutting task. We cut through several different types of ropes, including a tow strap, during a recent PADI Public Safety Diver course. There were no problems at all. I'm very happy. NOTE: Before attaching the leg strap, stretch a rubber snorkel keeper over the sheath for ADDED security retention. The handle can then be secured with the other end for extra security. For the past four years, I've been using it in this manner with my old knife. Continue to be cautious.

Sheath Lock is in good working order. 5 out of 5 stars Several customer reviews about the sheath's lack of a good locking mechanism are incorrect. The lock is strong and secure. Near the blade, there is a notch in the middle of the mid handle (both sides left and right leg/arm mount). This notch is caught by a hook lock, and the blade barely moves. If you don't fully insert the blade into the sheath, the latch release's side buttons will only hold it in place. I believe the negative reviews and the loss of a knife on day one are due to the knife not being fully seated in the sheath, causing the center latch to fail to catch as it should. I prefer a solid lock, so I gently pried open the latch mechanism (on both sides of the release buttons). The blade is now completely immobile. My wife was so taken with the knife's medium size and light titanium (not to mention the low price) that she had me order one for her as well. It's not critical, but the straps aren't long enough for a thigh mount (20"), so the only options are calf, belt, or BC without changing straps. Because the sheath is made of less pliable plastic and the blunt hammer part of the handle is the thinnest, I deducted one star. However, for the price, it's still great for the mid-size and light weight.

I would purchase this knife again

Details can be found in the review. So far, no signs of rust. You can also use it in the ocean, but make sure to rinse both pieces separately and allow them to dry before storing. I didn't care for the included strap, so I went out and bought a more elastic one. So far, I think it's an excellent piece; my only complaint is that, while it locks in tight (super happy so far, no signs of rust), my only complaint is that, while it locks in tight (super happy so far, no signs of rust), my only option is to use it in the ocean, but rinse both pieces separately and allow to dry before putting them away. I didn't care for the included strap, so I went out and bought a more elastic one. So far, I think it's a great piece; my only gripe is that, while it locks in securely, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable removing it quickly. . . Maybe with practice, but it doesn't feel natural. Everything is fine unless I need it right now (shark?). It does a good job of locking itself in. Those who say it doesn't (or rattles) haven't pushed it all the way in. . . it's like a two-step process. . . clip in the step If you don't press the second "click," it will rattle. Hopefully, they'll read one of these reviews and be able to get a better understanding of the knife. Anyway, I'm extremely pleased with the overall experience and would recommend it to a friend and use it again! P. S. : You're very sharp! very sharp smooth side, serrated side for sawing, cutout for fishing line, and metal at handle tip for hammering if needed.

For the rest of my life, I'm going to dive with this knife
4/5

I believe that diving with a knife is always a good idea because you never know what you'll get tangled up in in the ocean. I also believe that a dive knife should not be prohibitively expensive, so that I will not hesitate to use, abuse, break, or even abandon it if the need arises. This is a good combination of low cost and high quality. I prefer titanium because, like the rest of your gear, it requires no maintenance other than a freshwater rinse after each dive. I did 11 dives in a week in the Caribbean shortly after receiving this knife, and it is still in excellent condition. When the knife is in the sheath, there is some rattling, but the locking mechanism is secure, and the knife remains secure in the boat, splashing into the water, and swimming upside down. Both underwater and on land, the rubbery grip is comfortable and secure with wet hands. The knife's factory edge was not shave-ready. sharp, but it's more than adequate for the price and purpose.

Today's delivery was received
4/5

I ordered two knives, one for myself and the other for a upcoming dive trip. She requested a blunt tip, but I received a pointed tip. The knives are well-balanced and feel solid in the hand. The blades were sharp enough when they arrived, but I needed to sharpen them a little more. I'm not a big guy, 5'11" and 225 pounds, but the sheath's rubber straps are too short to go around my thigh. They'd probably be big enough to wear on your upper arm, but that would interfere with regular hoses. Keep in mind that the straps have an 18" circumference at the largest buckle point. For us, this isn't a big deal because I have plenty of other straps to keep the sheath secure. I expect everything else to be fine, but if it isn't, I'll change my mind.
