As tough as a rock, this knife is. At work, I have used this field knife and aside from a couple of scratches in the black coating on the blade, it has stood up to all my abuse. When you don't mind the weight, this might make an ideal Everyday Carry knife as well. Even though I rarely use the blunt tip as a self-defense weapon, I still use that regularly. I use it for defending myself more often than I do for self-defence.
Inside of a benchmade box is an envelope made out of silk like materials. There is no sheath, but there is a movable pocket clip that makes it possible to carry the item without
In saltwater, all of this would rust, since the hook and blade are made of steel, but the hook is 440c while the blade is n690, which is still a steel. It isn't made of H1 steel, which is immune to corrosion.
The knife has an AXIS Assist locking system which is classified as a manual knife. It can be opened with just one hand, either left or right. Please watch any of the many Youtube videos our fans have posted on AXIS to get a sense of just how fast and easy this manual knife is to use.

Rather, it's made to be a tactical entry device. The flat edge of the blade means poking, piercing, and stabbing will be ineffective. It has an edged blade, so if you want something that does that, you should get the 915 instead. With the flat surface, I have used it as a screw driver and pry bar and it's Sharp and well-suited for cutting just about anything, the serrated blade is very versatile. Cutting nylon rope in 1/2 inch diameter is a piece of cake with the hook blade Moreover, it will cut seat belts and other restraints with ease. It does punch right through thin metal so I would assume that in a pinch, it would work. I have not had the need to test it on glass, but it does punch right through thin metal. Benchmades are not cheap but from what I've seen so far, they are worth their price. A quality of craftsmanship second to none is apparent in the extremely high price of this knife. I really like the quality of the materials and how easy and efficient it is to open the axis. The tool is a great tactical entry/safety tool, all in all. While I am not convinced I would use it over other tools available for those purposes, it will serve as a good backup if none of the others are available. An emergency pack like this would be very helpful in the event of a vehicle breakdown.
The knife functions as it should and meets the needs of this purpose. As opposed to being delivered a blunt tip, I received the modified sheepsfoot blade. As the modified sheepsfoot prevents accidental punctures great, the blunt tip is not necessary. You still get a full blade and are protected from accidental punctures. As for the blade itself, it is strong and I'm confident that it will withstand daily usage. It is easy to clean thanks to the easy opening handle. As this knife has the potential to be pretty nasty, it is ideal for duty use. It's called the combo edge in my version. If you need to cut rope with a blade of this size, the combo edge works well. There is no difference between the axis lock on this and other Benchmades. It can be deployed quickly. Buying the auto version of this product is not necessary! I haven't used the carbide glass breakers yet, but I am sure they would work in a pinch, if necessary. Put on gloves before you start. With a bevel blade, this knife really stands out among the rest. It is very sharp and it takes care of clothes, seatbelts, and restraints with ease. Bevel blade is actually part of the stainless steel liner so it doesn't add bulk or weight to the knife. I really like how it is designed. Because of the G-quality of this knife, I am only giving it four out of five stars. Each handle has 10 loops. There are too many rough people. The only time I use this knife is at work, so I don't mind if my work pants get torn, but I can tell that its scales will rip the pockets pretty easy. The grip it provides, however, is quite good, so keep that in mind as well. Despite the small tradeoff, it's worth it. This is a great knife and I recommend it to anyone who works in the restaurant It is with great sadness that I say RIP to the.
The blade does have a slight twist to it so it can be opened with one hand. This is excellent for prying open things. I like the way the blade cuts. I have not found any problems with the hook or glass breaker. My hands are full of metal staples as I open boxes. In my first attempt to scrape the sharp ends of those staples across the black coating of the knife, no damage appears to have been done.
What else could you ask for?.
I am a Volunteer Fire Fighter and I'm training to become an EMT so it was important that I ordered the right knife. My gloves can be worn while using the device because it has all the functions that I need.
The bag is a carry essential for my son who is a rescue / fireman and always has it on. He carries it everywhere he goes because it's so lightweight.
This isn't my first Benchmade, but I'm a fan of this company's products and it lives up to my expectations. The fit and form are excellent, and the quality is excellent. The edge is well held.
As you'd expect from Benchmade, this product is of excellent quality.
