Questions & Answers

Is the grommet included in the package? Would you like to ?

I see that it's stainless steel in the description, but it's titanium in the features and details?

Aqualungs' website shows that a $50 knife is stainless steel, and an $80 titanium knife. My stainless steel watch is small and light enough that I wouldn't have spent $30 on titanium anyway, so I would have avoided spending the extra $30.

Perhaps an illustration of how to attach the silicone straps would be helpful? Those buttons don't seem to be attached and I can't understand the diagram. The same thing is true on YouTube. ?

Those I don't trust, and yes, the "directions" for those were much worse than I expected. A pair of stainless steel screws threaded into nyloc nuts was all it took for me to mount mine. It has survived 100+ dives.

Can you tell me if it's a BC ?

I would say the main objective of this knife is to be used as a BCD knife. At the end of the day, however, you can use it for whatever you would like. This is set up to fit on all Aqualung BCDs with a screw system that must be purchased separately. Here is a link I hope will be helpful, please check it out, thanks. *br>-- >Bill *br>-- OnlineScuba *br>- 1-866

Stainless steel is of high quality, great knife
5/5

There is no comparison between titanium and The titanium version of this knife was the one I originally wanted to buy to ensure it would not rust. This seems silly now, but they didn't have what I wanted in Titanium in the color and shape of the blade tip that I wanted. With this knife on my BCD I have scuba dived about 50 times now, all in salt water. As far as rinsing my BCD, I've only dipped it in freshwater when I reach Due to the fact that the knife stays on the BCD, it will also be rinsed. Our covered patio is the perfect place for me to hang everything out to dry. It wouldn't actually be necessary to take the knife out of its As a result, it is likely to rust prematurely, but as I am glad to report, it has not rusted at all, which is a clear indication it is stainless steel of very high quality. As far as performance is concerned, given its size, it performs very well. It cuts fishing line with no problems, but starts to struggle with thicker ropes. Most of this is because of its size there is not much blade leverage and there is not much blade to go back and forth. Even so, it's going to cut through it. As a result, it fits well in your BCD without snagging anything or being knocked by your arms while diving. * Are you satisfied with the Here is a link for yes. My sincere thanks.

Your knife may be that which falls off your BCD and hurts a fish
3/5

Due to the fact that I was able to fix what broke on the first dive, I give it two stars. Should there be any problems I will come back and give it Her knife's embedded in a pocket of her BCD which I mounted through holes in her clothing. It took her two other knives a while to get to the point where they wouldn't lock in her The sheath on this one uses a different locking mechanism and it is a lot easier to remove than trying to yank it from I made an additional loop of 1/4" bungee around the bottom of the sheath by running it through the hole on the handle (see 1st pic) as an additional measure to protect the knife from getting lost. In that case, even if the clasp were to come loose, the knife would still be contained in the sheath. What I wasn't prepared for was the complete sheath falling off her BCD because she'll easily snap the nuts securing it to her body. It is held on the BCD with two small stainless hex bolts, which penetrate the BCD, and penetrate holes in the back of the sheath, which capture plastic square nuts. An individual hex bolt head (about 1/4" across) is molded onto a large disk, which has a diameter of 1" and a thickness of 1/4". It works by twisting the disk to tighten the screw into its nut, then tucking it beneath A problem with tightening this disk appropriately is that you could twist the hex bolt head out of its disk because you can exert more torque than the joint can handle, and this disk can easily come off the bolt by shoving something into the BCD pocket or pulling something out of it. A plastic disk larger than the small bolt head can be simply pulled through the fabric of BCD by pulling the disk off the bolt head. Your knife and sheath will probably end up in the mouths of fish if this happens to both bolts. When the knife of my wife came back from about her sixth dive, one bolt was hanging from it, the disk for the other bolt was broken, and the bolt head had simply slipped through her BCD (see 2nd image). I'm not sure which of these things happened to the knife. He kept it in his dive bag on the boat for the remainder of the trip. A second problem is that the stainless bolts are about 3/8" long, while the plastic nut they go into has only a 1/8" deep hollow threaded hole. In other words, it is impossible to squeeze the sheath tight against the BCD as it is delivered. The sheath will soar around on the BCD as a result. Depending on whether the grommet holes in your BCD are the right thickness, you may be able to get a solid lock onto your knife if the holes in the BCD are metal grommets. Alternatively, if your grommets are a bit thicker, the bolts will likely only catch one or two of the threads of their nuts (Tip The thread will be poured out a lot Liquid should be locked within the nuts before tightening. ) I have solutions to all of these problems, but I have already gone on far too long. The problems I have identified will be forwarded to Aqua Lung for compensation to be specified later, and they can incorporate the fixes into the next generation of knives. In the interim, keep these design flaws in mind when purchasing, and you can come up with your own innovative solutions to these problems. If you don't have a knife you could hang it on your inflator hose and let it flop around. If you want to take the retro route, you could strap it to your leg Lloyd Bridges - Describe your aesthetic. For those who consume air well, you can hold the tube between your teeth like the guys in Seal Team 6 and take it out every 5 minutes or so to breathe. A work-related task BCD problems are a common occurrence, but there are several ways around them. What ever you decide, it is important to see this knife and sheath as a "kit" that you will have to adapt in some ways in order to make it effective.

Having purchased this knife as a spare knife for use with my life jacket while riding my jet ski, it is of very high quality
5/5

The ocean is a place where I am used to going way out on the open sea, so it is impossible to be I'm not a scamp when I'm out there off the coast, so I don't skimp on personal protection During my time on the water, I wear a life jacket equipped with a marine radio, personal Locator Beacon, whistle, dye packs, strobe light, and hand-held As well as wearing a helmet and eye protection, I wear a face shield. Having had another jet ski sink out from under me at a diving competition, I am convinced that it is not worth it to take chances when you can spend a little more time and a few more dollars to be completely prepared to save yourself.

This is quality engineering at its finest
5/5

In addition to diving around the globe, I am a PADI Divemaster who is from the Salish Sea. I have three of them in different sizes, and they are all great sleeves and releases. I will never purchase a dive knife of a different style I love titanium because it is lightweight and the quality of use under water is superb. Two times I have been entangled in fishing line with this knife, but it got me out of trouble.

It came with a horrible edge, but it is a nice mounting system(sort of)
3/5

No serrated edge, but the edge had a lot of burrs and was blunt. After sharpening it for a while, I found that it was a little sticky. The unit was mounted to an Aqualung BC using the grommets and "barnacle nuts" that came with the BC. I agree with others that the scabbarb is a bit loose. In order to install the screw, I used stainless steel 1/8 X 1 inch fender washers. To mount the scabbard, I first inserted the washer into the screw and snug it up. There was thread locker used and I was careful not to overtighten. Although I can see how the barnacle nut could not be considered In case it breaks, I'm just going to use a fender washer and a stainless screw. Although the blade works well, you won't be impressed since it won't impress anyone. Despite how much I hate carrying a knife, I'm going to carry a Spyderco Salt with me.

The quality of the Aqua Lung knives are always top-notch! The blade is excellent! The materials are high quality! That it fit into the grommets of my aqualung BC is awesome
5/5

Furthermore, it came with a hose mount that might be of use for me to attach my I don't know how long I'm going to be able to use the SPG as part of my regulator, so I have not tried it. I have a wrist computer that is integrated into the Air. It is still under construction, so I can't comment on how well it will endure salt water, yet. As of now, I have used only fresh and the product. I am pretty sure you will be able to handle it just fine if you are cautious.

I like how it fits
5/5

Aqualung's BCD has grommets that are the perfect distance apart to fit this knife, which is easy to access should I ever need to use a cutting blade suddenly. It's really nice how it locks into the sheath and I'm glad instead of a point it has a snub tip, which I believe would.
