Its only function is to cut seat-belts. It does a fantastic job with belts and clothing. br>Keep an eye out for the Res- me Key- I kept my extraction glove holder on the chain for a small window-breaking tool.

Sheath is a disaster. The tool is excellent, but I did not receive the sheath I had anticipated, so I'm not sure how I'll transport it. I was hoping for the black nylon sheath seen in other photos to go on my duty belt, but I guess I'll have to come up with something else.
This rescue cutter is a fantastic little tool that can rip and tear almost anything apart in an instant (that fits under the hook). The only product to which this can be compared is the Benchmade 5 hook, both of which are among the best strap and cloth cutters on the market. 7hook Benchmade: 3 inches in length, 1 inch in width, 3 inches in length, 3 inches in width a 6 oz hook, and a 3 oz hook The sheath is made of nylon and weighs 2 oz. 5 hook Benchmade: 9 inches long, 1 inch wide, 9 inches long, 9 inches wide, 9 inches wide 1 oz hook, 2 oz hook, 2 oz hook, 2 o The sheath is made of nylon and weighs 8 ounces. This is an excellent resource. As part of my EDC kit, I purchased this. This thing is razor-sharp, to say the least. Like a hot knife through butter, it cuts through everything. It's well-made, easy to hold and use, and extremely sharp. The compact design makes it smaller than rescue shears, which makes it ideal for EDC.
breather. Because we see a lot of trauma, we tend to cut a lot of pants legs and clothing. For a couple of years, I've been using the seven hook. When compared to standard trauma shears, it's lightning fast, and I've yet to find anything it won't cut through, including leather boots. The sheath that comes with it fits nicely on a uniform belt, and the hook is out of the way until needed, but very quick to deploy. The only disadvantage is the price - br>br> I've 'lost' two so far, and I've just purchased my third; at $30 each, they're a pain to lose, especially when trauma shears are so inexpensive. However, after relying on shears for a few months, I recently purchased a new hook. br>br>Oh, and one more word of caution - They cut through ECG leads with the same ease as they cut through clothing.
This small, light hook rips through clothing much more easily and quickly than trauma shears.
This is my second Benchmade rescue hook, and it was delivered quickly. Every day when I'm on duty, I have one with me. This is a fantastic tool that is easy to transport and use. I'll keep this one next to my buddy aid IFAK on my plate carrier.
I'm an ER doctor, and I wouldn't go to work without it right now. It's been a year since I got it and I wouldn't trade it for anything. With this, I can undress someone in less than 60 seconds. It can slash through any fabric. I recently deployed to Iraq and had someone decide they needed it more than I did. I used leater, laces, plastic, and sometimes the spider straps holding a patient to the back board, much to the chagrin of the paramedics. I tried the Gerber version provided by the army, but it was useless. It didn't cut well and didn't keep its edge. When I got back to the United States, I bought another benchmade. I've started giving this as a gift to other doctors, and it's always a welcome addition to their toolkit. I despise trama scissors because they're always lost and dull. I've never had a problem cutting whatever I needed with this, and the belt sheath is ideal for keeping it close and accessible. I didn't like the smaller version because it didn't feel right for my needs. This one feels great and allows me to get a good grip on the handle when cutting through clothes or straps. Without a doubt, a five-star recommendation.
Shears that are faster than EMS shears - I keep each of these on a retractable scissor leash (in various med bags or pouches (pretty much where shears used to be). To avoid misplacing or losing the item.
