With enclosed arm floaties, my child swam perfectly well. He was able to swim the entire length of the pool while remaining afloat.

We used it primarily at the beach, but it was also used at a public pool. In both situations, it did a good job of protecting the baby. We rinsed it as soon as we got out of the pool, and there was no fading. The suit is fantastic.
