I used to skateboard when I was fourteen years old. I recall buying a single bar of these waxes for a dollar at skate shops. br>br>Last summer, I picked up skating again casually, and I wanted to get a big container of these waxes just for nostalgia's sake. br>br>First and foremost, these are definitely not "full size" skate wax bars. Another reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that there aren't 25 full-sized wax bars. But, for less than $20, what were you expecting? The price of a 3-pound bar of wax is usually around $3. The cost is $5. br>br>These bars appealed to me because they were "fun. " They came in a variety of colors, had a cool shape and design, and were simple to stow away in your back pocket before hitting your favorite ledge or rail. These weren't designed to completely wax a ledge; instead, I think of them as small "pocket waxes" that you can use to increase slickness and "rewax" previously waxed obstacles. br>br>The only drawback (and the reason I didn't give it five stars) is that these are NOTHING like the Curb Candy I remember from my childhood. It has been 7 years. In fact, the colors, shape, and wax material are all quite different. They have a "bubblegum" smell to them (which isn't a bad thing), the wax consistency is different ("softer," which is better for some obstacles but prone to melting right off rails and metal boxes), and the colors aren't the original Curb Candy colors as shown in the picture (instead, they're very bland, ugly colors that all look the same). purple, pink, blue, and possibly a red) The shape is also different from what I recall from the original Curb Candy. The original Curb Candy was shaped like a tiny bar of gold and had a very well-defined "bar" appearance. These appear to be sloppy versions of that, with a lot of "roundness" to them. br>br>So, did I just write this long, in-depth review for a product that many people believe is a waste of money because it is just overpriced wax with the packaging as its only redeeming feature? Yes! br>br>However, this is because these items bring back memories for me; there's something about these small, fun pieces of wax that holds a special place in my heart.
Obviously, the wax performs admirably (and also has a pleasant odor). It was fantastic to find all of the wax pieces. Obviously, the wax performs admirably (and also has a pleasant aroma, similar to that of a strong candle). The packaging, on the other hand, was HORRIBLE. The wax pieces were kept in a plastic container that had been badly torn up and taped together. Five pieces of wax fell out of the hole in the bottom of the container while I was transporting it from my house to my car. Wax is fantastic, but I thought it was rather impolite to send it in such dreadful packaging. Any company that cares about its image would have sent the wax in anything other than this container. Someone has obviously been trying for a long time to get this item off their shelves.
I prefer ledge butta or sk8mafia butter wax to make a ledge or rail slide or grind so smoothly.
This was a gift for my son's birthday. It did not come in the 12-pack that I had ordered. One red wax bar was sent to me. I'm extremely disappointed!.
This wax is ideal for skating and comes at a fantastic price. The pieces are small enough to slip into your pocket without causing you any discomfort. While skating, I actually break them in half and keep a piece in my pocket.
The colors, on the other hand, are unappealing.
I'm not interested in writing a review.
