Although these are thick laces, I found that, as I laced them through my skates, the tiny holes squeezed the laces and caused the wax coating to agitate, so the previously jet black laces became gray as soon as I lacing them up. For those who will be bothered by that, I recommend wearing lace that is thinner.
There's something about these laces that I really like. After six years off, I got back on my quads and put new laces on my skates for my skate rehab. In terms of looks and stiffness, I have tried a few more brands, and these are by far my favorite. The sticks are just enough to make them not want to unlace on their own or loosen when worn for extended periods of time. The past couple of months have been nothing short of wonderful. I use them in my old 265s as they look great despite being a bit thick.
This length gives me enough length to wrap around my ankles for added support or double up on my hook eyelets for additional security. My skates are size 7, by the way.
It just arrived, so I have already laced up the skates. I would like to point out a few things. Laces are on both sides of the shoe. Due to uncertainty and inability to tell, I got one and hoped to find two included, which was the case. The only one I need is the one I need right now. I should have checked the length a bit more, because these would have been ideal at about 88 inches. Two, the quality seems pretty good and looks like my current ones, so I hope they will last as long. Three, they should have been the same length as my current ones. I have just barely been able to tie them all up completely, and they are decent once they are pulled tight, but I believe I will have to put my foot into the boot through one set of holes each time. My foot usually has to loosen up quite a bit before I can get it into the shoe, and if I do so, the laces reach the last holes of the shoe. I believe these will work, but I would have preferred to have had them a bit longer. I had the last two for a long time since I just tied a knot when they broke and they kept working.
If you don't live near one of their stores, you won't be able to find the 83" Dr Marten laces here. A few shoe stores carry this length but the lacing is thin and round and not sturdy enough to pull tight, and the outdoor store nearby that does carry them has limited styles and stock. If you can find them locally, I suggest shopping online for them. While searching on Amazon, I stumbled upon these laces. I read the reviews of buyers who were using and abusing these laces constantly (as they are meant to be used and abused) and were very pleased with the product. glad to try them at such a good price and get free shipping with Prime.
