The tape would have to drop into the "valley" to seal up the spoke holes if your inner rim has a v shape (rather than being flat). The rim tap width should be slightly smaller than the inner rim width. I believe 17mm would be sufficient because it will be stretched to fit the rim.
Nope. It will be excessively large!

I'd read a lot of good things about Stan's No Rim Tape, so I decided to give Muc-Off a try. Off a shot at beating Stan's. Unfortunately, it did not go as planned. br>I went out and bought a 30mm Muc- For my brand new Carbon 30mm internal rims, I used off tape. To begin with, the tape has a thin feel to it. Second, applying it without leaving a bunch of air bubbles was a bit of a challenge. I had to reapply it several times until the air bubbles were almost gone. After that, I mounted the tire and applied 125ml of Orange Seal Endurance Sealant, but two spokes were still leaking air. One of the spokes stopped leaking air after some time, but the other did not. As a result, I decided to start over. When I took the Muc-Off, I was pleasantly surprised. When I removed the rim tape, I was left with a lot of glue and tape pieces that took me over 45 minutes to remove with Goo Gone. It took me even longer to reapply the second time because I had to be extra careful to ensure that it completely sealed the rim. After I finished mounting the tire and applying tubeless sealant, it started leaking air again from a different spoke, but it stopped after a while. br>So I returned the product and ordered Stan's. It's immediately apparent that this is a higher-quality, thicker tape. It took me less than 5 minutes to apply, and I tested it without the sealant the first time to ensure there was no air leakage. br>It appears to me that Muc- Off invests 90% of their budget in marketing and spends 2010% on product development. br>This isn't to say that all of their products are bad, but the ones I've tried so far haven't been any better than the competition.
This is the best option, in my opinion. It's more difficult to install than gorilla. You must gently stretch the tape over the rim while slowly pressing it down. You can only press it on 1/2 inch at a time. A large strip will wrinkle if you try to lay it down. Stickers are a nice touch, as rip tape has a tendency to be weak in this area.
This is what I use to get rim tape results that are better than what the factory offers.
There are no air leaks or flats in this house. You MUST watch Mucoff's video on how to install it, or you will have to re-install it. doing it. Another important lesson learned is to check for air leaks before applying sealant. Simply fill the tire with water and run soapy water over the bead and each spoke to ensure that the tape was applied correctly. Once it passes this test, apply the sealant. Also, instead of mixing and matching a bunch of different brands for valve stems, tape, sealant, and other items, I highly recommend using Mucoff's complete system. It will make your life easier in the long run.
Installing it was a breeze. Because it is not as stretchy as some others, it makes the application process much easier in my opinion.
This rim tape meets my expectations for tubeless conversion. It was the only thing I could find on Amazon that fit my rim width in various sizes. It got a five-star rating from me. Only time will tell if it will stand the test of time. I don't see why I shouldn't give it a higher rating for now. I'll buy it again if I run out of rim tape.
It stuck well and there were no bubbles to contend with. I just found it to be a breeze to work with in general. I used two layers because I've found that other tape's spoke holes can cause cuts over time, and the tire is still holding air after a week.
It worked perfectly on a Roval ring that had the factory tape fail after only a year. This is a very good stick.
