Questions & Answers
If you mean a setting where the top surface of the seat is perfectly parallel to the Earth's surface by "zero degrees," you'll have to use your eyes to judge when the seat is perfectly that way. The current angle of the seat is not indicated by any markings. Furthermore, because each bike's seat post tube sits at a different angle, such markings would be useless.
It had two hex bolts and was fairly simple to adjust. I place the saddle on the seat post and adjust the bolts until the seat is at the proper angle before tightening them.
Yes. Allow as much time as possible for better support, and after cutting, I filed the edge at a 45-degree angle to remove any roughness.
The producer. Unfortunately, the seat post is only available in 28-inch lengths. Sorry, but a diameter of 6mm equals 400mm.

Over the course of one year, I rode approximately 5000 miles. 5 years (3500 miles on the road loaded). Everything seemed to be fine until it suddenly snapped in half near the insert clamp, sending us tumbling to the ground in disbelief. It was pure luck that we were traveling at 6 mph on a quiet side road, having just started up a short, steep grade. br>br>I contacted an Origin8 representative in October of last year, just days after the news broke, and received a very friendly response to a note informing them of the failure and asking for nothing more than a simple refund. This was readily accepted, and a UPS label was emailed along with a note stating that a refund check would be issued as soon as the package arrived. I submitted it in good faith. Another note arrived a few days later, stating that it had arrived and that a check would be sent out soon. br>br>And that was the end of their communication with each other. I sent follow-up emails and then called in December, just in time to catch Gary Mendenhall, the rep I'd been in touch with earlier, at his Origin8 (AKA J) location. He was on his way out for lunch at B Importers, Inc. 's office in Florida. His on- the- "Oh sorry," said the fly, "I'll get a check off as soon as I hear back from the factory. " " I didn't understand what you were saying. br>br>In February, I decided to simply request the return of my seatpost parts and emailed once more. Now that it's April, there's still no news. br>br>It's only $27, and I'm grateful beyond words that we're still alive! However, their enigmatic lack of Support and communication are baffling, and I get the impression that they've buried their heads in the sand, hoping that I and whatever imagined liability concession would simply vanish. br>br>If this had happened in a high-traffic area, the possibility of death or serious injury is unthinkable. Another review claims that only one bike has experienced sudden failure; is the alloy too brittle, or the walls too thin? Other reasons may exist, but those who purchase this post should keep an eye out for them. And don't use it in tandem with anything else. br>br>Unfortunately, I won't be considering Origin8 products any longer. Who knows where these attractive components came from?.
I bought this a while ago to use as a backup commuter bike. br>br>I bike commute every day, but this bike has only been ridden about 40 times since then. br>I work part-time as a bike mechanic and take good care of my vehicles. There were no signs that this component was about to fail completely. br>It snapped off cleanly when I hit a dip (rain gutter across an intersection) today, with no warning. br>br>During that time, the main bike has been ridden hundreds of times, and the seatpost is still in good condition.
A friend recommended that I try this one because he used to have one on his old bike and had no problems with it. I didn't have to tighten it since I put it on, and he was correct. The seat hasn't moved at all, and best of all, it was significantly less expensive than the others I'd previously owned. It's been about three months since I've ridden it three times. So far, four days a week has been successful. If your seat clamp isn't holding for you because you're a big guy, try this one. I'm 290 pounds, and it fits me perfectly. No, I was not compensated or given anything in exchange for writing this.
So far it appears to be legit, it looks great, and I'm sure it'll hold up fine. I'm going to use it on my mountain bike for trail riding, and I ride pretty f'in hard on my bikes, so I honestly don't think it'll see my ass on it much because I'm usually standing when hitting the trails. br>br>However, I reduced the rating to four stars because of one detail: the photo depicts it with a silver top, which was the deciding factor in my decision to purchase this over others. My trail bike's color scheme includes black and silver, and this is to replace a seatpost that is black with silver for the top part, and I had an alternative in mind that I would have purchased instead if I had known. What is the difficulty in posting accurate images?.
The precision with which they adjust the seat angle is what makes this seat post worth the $26 price tag. In comparison to cheaper seat posts, it is also relatively simple to use. Anything bearing the Origin 8 logo is guaranteed to be of high quality. If the company's stock was publicly traded, I'd invest in it.
I gave this seatpost two stars at first because I installed it incorrectly. I undid the previous setup and did it correctly this time, and voila. It's a good seatpost that I recommend; Simply ensure that it is installed correctly the first time.
It also has a more modern seat attachment on top, which is ideal for pairing with a more modern road bike seat. Hex keys are used to adjust the angles and other features.
) I bought it to take my toddler on long bike rides while schools and playgrounds were all locked down, and I wish I could have used it. Hopefully, I will be able to purchase a new bike in the near future.
