Questions & Answers

How big is the inside circumference?

I'm not sure, but any standard diameter bar should fit. They're a pain to get on, but they don't slip. I ride all of my bikes with them on.

According to one reviewer, these wear out after a while and they are on their second set. So, how long do these grips last before you have to go out and buy a new set?

I've put about 1000 miles on my mine, mostly in the mountains rather than on the road, and it still feels and looks fantastic. I also have a set of ESI extra chunky grips, which are far superior to the wolf paws.

Is it possible to cut the grips down to a more manageable size? Because of the gear shifter, the right grip on the handlebar of my bike is shorter than the left grip. ?

Yes, I had to go through the same ordeal. It's something I'm confident about. You'll need a very sharp knife, and it'll be difficult to cut evenly because the grips are so thick (and comfortable!).

I'd like to know how big the end caps are. I'm having trouble getting them to fit, so I'm going to have to get something thinner. ?

Answer and suggestion: 22mm, you can also make them fit by slicing the sides with a razor blade, starting with two, I went in and stayed with three slices. Best of luck!

I replaced a set of Extra Chunky grips with these and was a) surprised at the large increase in hand comfort and feel versus the small size increase (based on measurement) and b) completely surprised at how much easier they were to install versus Extra Chunky grips, which I have on all of my bikes. I plan to replace all of them with Wolf Tooth Fat Paw grips over time. br>br>In terms of physical size, the Wolf Tooth grips don't appear to be much larger. Wolf Tooth claims 36-inch grips. The Extra Chunky grips from ESI have a 34mm installed diameter, whereas the 37mm grips from ESI have a 37mm installed diameter. I haven't got the calipers out yet, but someone is lying. The grips on the Wolf Tooth are much bigger and more comfortable. It's important to note that I usually wear size L gloves. br>br>The benefit I didn't anticipate, but which I believe was worth perhaps even more than the larger grip size, was the ease of installation. If you've ever installed grips from The Other Leading Brand, you'll understand what I'm talking about. I've tried both the dish soap method (don't do it) and alcohol, and the results range from extremely difficult to impossible; you'll make it work, but you'll probably have to go through a lot of drama to do so. The Fat Paw grips, on the other hand, came as a complete surprise. Given their rigidity and increased thickness, they *felt* like they'd be up to the task. Not true! I took my usual alcohol bath inside and onto the bar, then pressed on to prepare for the usual fight and. poof already completed! What? I figured I could curse and grunt for another 5 minutes. Nope, it took about ten seconds to finish. I'm sure I can get them off without cutting them off, which is how The Other Leading Brand usually works. br>br>Here's a pro tip: These grips are made of silicone, of course. I spiral- Wrap the grips with silicone self-adhesive tape using only gentle pressure. Fusing tape is available in a variety of brands and colors on Amazon. The spiral wrap pattern is identical to the way traditional ram-horns are wrapped. The handlebars of a road bike are horned. the self- The fusing silicone tape adheres to the grips and does not come off or move. It also wears relatively smoothly in a short amount of time while still retaining enough inherent stickiness to serve as an excellent grip tape. It also serves as a protective layer over the grip, and if the grip tape is ever cut, simply wrap another layer in the opposite direction and you're good to go. Your grips have been protected and restored to their former glory.

Great Hands - Tip for Installing These grips are fantastic; they are extremely comfortable while maintaining excellent control
5/5

During the installation process, I discovered something that greatly simplifies the process. When I first installed it, I wiped the bar with a lot of alcohol and tried to put the grip on, but no matter how much alcohol I used, it was extremely difficult. Then I realized that instead of pouring the alcohol on the bar, I should have poured it inside the grip, so that the entire interior side of the grip was saturated with alcohol, and then I tried putting it on, and it was a piece of cake! I believe that when you just put alcohol on the bar, the first part of the grip wipes away all of the alcohol, leaving nothing for the rest of the grip to grip. I hope this has been of assistance.

I find it too thick to be comfortable
3/5

It isn't always better to be bigger. Grip pressure makes my hands go numb, especially my thumbs. The palm pressure, not the forearm burn from gripping too tightly. I've been getting good results with the super chunk silicone grips, but these are even thicker, so I figured they'd be a step up. Nope. They're actually so thick that holding and moving the bar/bike becomes extremely difficult; your grip weakens as the diameter increases, making pulls, manuals, and English more difficult. Bummer. They're a well-made product, and I'm sure they'll be useful for some riders, but they're far too big for me.

I first saw these on BKXC's Santa Cruz Bronson on Youtube and thought they'd be a great upgrade over the stock offering on my bike
5/5

I find that the larger diameter and increased give when gripping help reduce fatigue on downhill sections. I have a bad habit of gripping the handlebars too tightly, so the cushion on these grips makes a huge difference when riding over bumps. br>br>To install the handlebars, I sprayed the inside of the grips with water and then slid them on with a little elbow grease. If you have an air compressor, you can easily turn these on and off by shooting air through the gap. br>br>I recommend pairing these with a set of metal handlebar end caps (look for "Handle Bar Cap End Plug" on Amazon). Plastic end caps are included, but they widen the handlebar by a few millimeters, which can be enough to rub up against a rock on a trail with a lot of exposure. br>br>This product comes highly recommended!.

36mm diameter fat pawbr>Feel: They have a lot of traction. This took me completely by surprise. However, after getting these wet during a bike wash after a ride, they felt extremely slick, but this was not an issue on the trails due to sweatbr>br>Install. Using the alcohol method, this went off without a hitch. I sprayed it on the bars and inside the grip before twisting it in place. I'm worried about getting them off, but I'll figure it out once I get there. br>br>Sizing: My hands are approximately seven inches long. 25" from the palm to the middle finger's end, and 3" The "Fat Paw" grips are fine; however, because the stock grips I had were 30mm and the next step up offered by the "Karv" is only 32mm, I'd consider getting some that are 2mm thinner (34mm). If and when these wear out, I might give them a try next time. br>br>Only knock: br>br>Only knock: br>br>Only knock: These have left a light stain on my medium dark gray gloves. The staining on the gloves remained after they were washed after the ride. I haven't tried anything other than tossing them in the washer in a wash bag to rub the stains out. br>br>After more riding time, I can confirm that these aren't great when wet, and the staining on the gloves hasn't stopped. I still like how they feel, so I'll keep them on the bike until I get bored with them.
