Odi's mushroom grips were very popular as a kid in the 1980s, and you probably had them or lusted after them. When it came to squishy bmx grips, they were considered the gold standard. I was replacing my old mountain bike grips when I discovered that Odi not only still makes the grips I remember, but they also make these flangless versions. I couldn't have made a better choice for the money; I don't ride with gloves, so I needed something that wasn't too hard but still provided a good grip, and these are ideal; they're soft, pliable, and overall very comfortable and grippy. The bright white logos on the bar ends aren't my favorite, but that's hardly a deal breaker. I'm very pleased with them.
When I was looking for a good pair of grips, I kept seeing these from ODI. I decided to give them a try because they were only $10, and I'm glad I did. br>br>First, slide on grips can be a pain to install, but these aren't as bad as some others; simply clean the bars thoroughly and wipe the insides of the grips with rubbing alcohol. They can then be easily slid on, and the alcohol will have evaporated and they will not move after a few hours. br>br>I went for a ride after my grips were installed to test them out, and I was immediately impressed. They have a lovely cushiony feel to them and are extremely grippy. Many grips have a sticky feel to them, which I dislike, but these do not, even after a long day of sweaty riding. Furthermore, because they compress a fair amount upon landing, these make landings on big jumps and drops feel a lot softer. This comes in handy when riding a BMX bike, especially if you're used to riding a bike with suspension. Last but not least, these grips do not slip around even after months of use. In the past, I've found that slide-on grips loosen up over time and need to be replaced, but this hasn't happened with these. br>br>Overall, these grips are highly recommended. They are by far the best I've ever tried, and if I ever do another BMX build, I'll be sure to get another pair.
KickPed's stock grips were replaced (as were Know-How's). Ped / GoPed) with these grips, and the difference is night and day. All of the favorable feedback is well-deserved.
There's just enough padding, but there's also a good connection between the bike and the road. br>However, they were a little loose on my old school BMX ride, so I used some 3M Super 77 adhesive to secure them.
These were purchased to replace the stock grips on my Mongoose L20. They are slightly shorter than the ones that came with it, but not by much. They are very cushiony and soft, as well as grippy. If you're looking for grips, these are the ones to look for.
They're exactly what my son wanted for Christmas, but they won't fit on his new scooter or the new bars we got him. I'm confident he'll put them to good use.
BMX grips of the highest quality. My Kink grips used to give me blisters all the time, but since I've switched to these, they've only increased the thickness of my calluses and made my hands super soft and grippable. During intense riding, they can become very sticky and slippery due to sweat, but dirt can help. To make them easy to apply, I used rubbing alcohol.
Normally, I don't give five-star ratings. ODI, on the other hand, nailed it years ago and continues to provide the same level of comfort after nearly two decades. A low-cost classic that has been perfected. What is the point of purchasing a knockoff?.
