If I take my old touristschwinn bottom bracket apart, will this fit?

You must determine your bottom bracket size and then convert that to millimeters. For example, if your bottom bracket is 4 3/4, you need to set it to 4 millimeters. You will receive the correct size when you order 75

I can't tell from the pictures if the pictures are bare steel or not. If you want the exposed parts to remain rust-free, do you have to paint them?

You can see the ring of metal once you install it, but I am not sure if it requires painting to prevent rust. My bike has been installed for about two months and so far, no rust has appeared.

I had no problems with the size or the fit of my bike

In contrast to the old style loose bearings and cups, this part inserted as if it were an OEM part. So much easier than using loose bearings and grease and adjusting the fit as it was. As I had time to clean up after removing the old crank and putting in the new one, I finished the job in just over half an hour. As for the new crank, it is of excellent quality and workmanship, and I have had no problems using.

I created a smooth riding bike out of a crunchy one

It's hard not to like a new bottom bracket, is it? chose this BB because it was inexpensive and I ordered the correct size. It installed quickly and I had the bike back on the road in a few hours. Will the BB last for 10 years? We won't know.
