Questions & Answers

Is this going to work on a praxis bb 68-? 3002? The bb has 12 notches and a 61-inch frame shell. lbs advises me to get the bbt- 5mm x 46mm wide. ?

It's best if you get it with your pounds. They can then return it if it does not work.

Will this work with the Race Face BSA 30, 68/73, or should I get the bbt-?

I'd recommend contacting Calvin at Park Tool Co. for the most up-to-date information. The most trustworthy individual who can confidently answer your question. HTT188 is the tool that the hope bb requires.

This is not a good tool
3/5

For more than two decades, I've worked as a professional bike mechanic. This is the first (and hopefully the last) aluminum bottom bracket tool I've seen or owned. The socket interface began to wallow out after only a few uses with torque wrenches set to the manufacturer's specs. This is not a high-quality tool that will last a long time. This method may be suitable if you only need to install one or two bottom brackets. If not, stay away from it.

With Park Tools, you get a lot more than you pay for
5/5

You get what you pay for, and you get a whole lot more in this case. I wasn't sure which bb tool I needed for my SRAM cups, so I contacted Park Tool and spoke with one of their techs. I emailed him a picture as well as the make and model. He quickly figured out which one I should get and sent me a link to their video on how to take it apart and put it back together. Needless to say, it saved me a great deal of time and stress. Like a surgeon, I replaced my crankset and bearing cups in less than an hour. I will never purchase a bike tool from a company other than Park.

It's way too thin and soft
3/5

When this comes loose while tightening, the aluminum nubs are severely damaged, and your BB cups will be scratched for the rest of your life. Steel is the only way to go. The tool's body is also much thinner than the Park tool for Shimano BBs, which is similar. Mine is already deformed after only one use, and it does not appear to be durable enough to be used in a store.

Is it true that this is a Park Tool? Park Tools are usually one of my favorites, but this bb tool was made for looks rather than performance
3/5

It began to slip and round off the edges while I was using it. When I became frustrated, I turned to the Corki tool for assistance. The Corki tool may not appear to be much, but it does the job without stripping the bb. I wish I could have returned this tool before the deadline, but I was unable to do so. This is a tool that Park Tools should recall.

It's a good tool that does what it's supposed to do
4/5

I wish it were made of steel rather than aluminum. I wish the material was a little tougher, but as far as using it on RaceFace bottom brackets, here's my reviewbr>br>I'm perplexed as to why RACE FACE makes bb shell notches so shallow that even a specially designed tool from Park that costs as much as a RaceFace Turbine bottom bracket constantly slips? br>br>During installation, I used Park Tool 12 Notch 46mm with a torque wrench set to 44 n/m as specified in the Raceface manual, but it slipped and damaged the tool as well as scratching the bottom bracket shell. The engagement would be perfect if RaceFace made the notches a little deeper or didn't create that slant in the BB shell. br>It works as intended, good tool! I wish it was made of steel rather than aluminum.

This is not an excellent example of park tool quality
3/5

It does the job, but it's a little too soft. The aluminum shell had warped where it connects to a ratchet/torque wrench after two uses, to the point where I had to disconnect it from the ratchet with a large pair of pliers. At the very least, the top should be made of a more durable material.

The part is not compatible with the ROTO UBB 4630
3/5

I bought it because it said it was compatible with the ROTOR BB. This is not compatible with the *NEW* ROTOR UBB 4630. The BB and the cup have the same diameter. As a result, the cup will never be able to pass through the splines. I had to send it back and place an order for the proper ROTOR Part No. C00- 004- From outside the United States, dial 00100.

The money spent was not well spent
3/5

For the price, it's a letdown, and I'm hoping Park isn't losing its luster. While this worked on my BB, the aluminum construction is clearly not meant to be used repeatedly, as the teeth have already begun to wear after tightening to the recommended torque. For the same money, there are better sockets available.
