In order to install/remove a threaded DUB bottom bracket (BSA), you must use a tool that is designed to fit the notch perfectly. This socket is sold by Park Tool for around $30, but it is not the cheapest. It is a very simple tool that gets the job done just fine. Since I am most likely only going to use it once every year or two, I could not justify spending $30 on a tool I never use. Torque the BB cups into the frame using a torque wrench - make sure you use one. As you can see, this tool does not work with torque wrenches. There is not a great deal of leverage on the handle, since it is a little short. As a result, by using this tool along with a rubber mallet it is easy to tap the handle to ensure that the cups are securely tightened. This is a great tool to have in your toolbox if you are a home mechanic.
When you are given this tool, it is the exact tool you need for the job if you are given the exact job you need it for, then the BB tool proves to be the perfect tool. There is more metal than Park BB tools, so it won't easily slip off of the cup when you're attempting to remove it (this is a problem with You can also get it for a low price. As I said, if you are like me and buying your fifth BB removal tool because of the silly amount of proprietary standards in the industry, it is nice to be able to buy the tool The only thing I don't like about this thing is that it only has an 8-volt battery The handle is 9 inches long. You cannot get a lot of torque out of it, so it really isn't suited for racing. When it comes to removing stubborn cups, while that isn't a problem for installing them, it can be a real pain.
While it doesn't deliver the best performance, at this price point it does what it is supposed to do. Despite its softness, the metal is a good and a bad thing. While there is a downside because it will not last for many years, there is a positive aspect as it lets you know when you are overtightening you are looking for a tool lasting through the decades, then you should consider the park tools model. The huckleberry option is a good one for people who just want to do occasional maintenance at a low cost. I give the overall rating a solid 3.
It is indicated in the description that it is compatible with The answer to this question is kind of yes, sort of no. In some cases, the BB cup faces are tapered, so I could not get them to engage past the first third. As a result, the wrench easily slips off when torque is applied. My solution was to use a bearing press with giant washers to secure the wrench to the BB cup so that it wouldn't lose its grip. The construction is fairly good, but I wish the size was a bit smaller.
Removing a Race Face Cinch BB was accomplished with this method. This is a good deal for the price. The Cons - Neither the wrench handles' edges nor the knob are Please note
Weak lever power due to the short length of the wrench. The pros are This BB fits snug on the arm. It is priced.
I bought this to match the bottom bracket I bought when I switched to the new SRAM NX 12 speed group set. Installing it myself wasn't a problem for me since I'm handy. Why, if you are like me, and would like to fix your bike yourself, don't you have this option? Getting one for your toolbox is a good idea.
A thick, solid piece of aluminum that is relatively lightweight, but is strong and good for installing BB cups. A closed ring prevents it from sliding over the crank arm, so it is impossible to slip it over the crank arm. The arm provides a good fit for the cup when we're assembling a new piece or disassembling a piece.
The quality of this item is excellent. Does not fit the BB, but it could have been longer for better leverage, I had to use a lot of leverage to remove the BB since the arm is about 6 inches.
