Questions & Answers

On these shifters it's hard to see an inside lever. What do they do?

Furthermore, there is a switch-like button on the inside of the hoods that allows you to shift to harder gear, and the break levers push inwards to shift into I have not had any problems using them. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

It would be great if my 1992 Trek 970 mtb could be converted to drop In its original form, it is a 3 x 7. How well will these work in such a situation?

In short, yes. It is the same with the Trek 1100 I have from 1993. As of January 1, 2009, I have It's an A070 that I enjoy. The shift is smooth

When adjusting the reach of these, how do you do it?

The position of the hand on the handlebar should be taken into account. Depending on the model, the top of the hood may have a limit screw.

Are these compatible with an index system such as SIIS?

Yes, you can, however you will lose one of the shifts and the indicator underneath the hood will not indicate where you are in respect to your shift. In light of the 3 x 6 groupset you have, my recommendation would be to spend just a little more on a 7 shift cassette for your bike (around 25$) and have it installed by your local bike shop (15$ estimate), along with the following shifters. During the shifter installation and tweeking of them, I lost two afternoons but they say time is money, and time is money for me! My bike was calling me! I just wanted to get out and ride!

Tourney and Altus 3x7 compatible
5/5

My town's bike shops all told me it was impossible to upgrade my Raleigh Cadent 1 to drop handlebars and speed shifters like these without changing all my derailleurs at the same time. The wrong choice was made. As soon as I installed these, tightened the cables, and rode my bike, there have been absolutely no issues. They work perfectly with my Shimano Altus back derailleur and Shimano Tourney front Despite the fact that I failed to install the tension dials as you should have (oops), everything worked as it should. The transmission shifts quickly, and the brakes are smooth. The upgrade has made me very happy. In my opinion, the only thing that bugs me about this car is that the shifting cables come out of the inner sides of the hoods, which makes them look Instead of feeding through the hoods, they should feed from the bottom.

It comes with new cables and everything else you need for installation, except It is easy to install
5/5

Since I went from Shimano shifters on the center of the handlebars, it's nice to be able to engage the shifters on the handlebars. The break lever will remain in my hands as I shift. The problem with this is that many people complain about not being able to downshift while the fe b hands are in the low position, but this isn't entirely During the 7th gear, the brake lever shifter is reduced whereas the thumb trigger is increased. As a result. The gearing can be reduced by just a little bit of practice and they are extremely easy to use. This is not for Plastic and wire stops, brake and shifter cables, and plastic and wire cables come under this group. Purchase the extra cables, but don't buy them.

A finicky animal

A cable was snipped. This set of shifters was installed on a homemade gravel bike made from a 26" mountain bike. I wanted cheap shifters that would work with the existing cassette on that old mountain bike. I thought that these were too expensive for what they were. Though the brake cables were too short and there wasn't enough housing for the brake cables, they do come with the shifter and cables. It is a pity they don't provide enough end caps or ferules, like others commented. In the case of using disc brakes on a bike or if there are a lot of cable housings between the lever and the brake, be prepared to purchase a spare set of brake cables and housings. Cables are really short when it comes to brakes. You can shift when you want. You may have to experiment with setting up the front derailleur, and the front derailleur may not work with all bikes. It is the brakes that I dislike the most. I have to move the lever a great distance before the pads engage, so I have to adjust the pads so that they are nearly rubbing The calipers I'm using are road disc brake calipers, by the way. Having said that, I do wish I had spent a bit more and gone with Claris, but given the availability of bicycle parts at the moment, I didn't really have an option there. There is nothing to worry about. You can use them if you are trying to use a 7-inch A system of speed. The only problem is that you won't be impressed by them and you will probably replace them soon with better shifters.

There is no compatibility with Tourney TX low band front derailleurs (you need a Tourney A073 FD for road) but it is functional once you have it I picked these up for an old Franken bike that had a tourney A073 crank, an old FDT-style front rack and a tourney A073 rear rack A Shimano TZ front derailleur and an old TZ rear derailleur are part of the groupset, so I thought I should at least try to match the shifters
5/5

With a self-install I had no trouble dialing in the rear derailleur after upgrading and using the brifters (as I find the thumb shifter to be pretty intuitive). Although I spent hours fiddling and tuning the front derailleur, I still was not able to get it to shift between all 3 gears easily on my front tourney chainring, and I took the bike into my local bike shop to have the derailer tuned. As a result, I had to try a new Tourney FD before I figured out that I had to get Tourney A073 front derailleur (not the mountain one) in order to have it pull a proper amount of chain. Yet, it is still a great way to make the transition to a brifter setup from old-school shifters or older SIS systems.

Casual riders and those who enjoy exercising by riding a bike will love these STI shifters
5/5

My wife previously had a road bike that did not have STI shifters, and it was impossible At the bike shop, I was charged about $40 for installing them These give her the convenience she is looking for when it comes to shifting, and she appreciates them when she goes riding. So do not expect 105 quality from them. There aren't any top of the line ones. These will work as well for anyone who is a casual Rider. It seems that some derailers are not compatible with it, based on some reviews. It worked perfectly for her, though she had the same series already on her bike.

Brifters who do their jobs well
4/5

The reason I bought these was to upgrade the Shimano Tourney flat bars that came with my hybrid as I did not like the wide flat bars In my opinion, this hybrid bike just felt like a road bike with flat bars and lower gearing, and it would be a good fit These ST-style bars were cut short, some bolt on drops were added and the bars were installed There are some A070's and some tektro in there as well You can also set down the line levers on the flat part of the bar to slow down slow traffic. It was relatively easy to install the bike, but I did have trouble setting up my front derailleur. I believe it was a combination of wearing out the cables and my own goodwill. As for the cables (I used orange Jagwire instead of the ones that came with them)
I believe these are meant to be used with mini-plug computers. There are no longer any V brakes with the new set up, but I don't mind it as much as the original brakes were, since they are more forgiving than the originals and I won't have to jump over the bars in an emergency stop. The way the gloves feel is amazing it's a very comfortable position to keep my hands in most of the time. The modifications made to my bike have made it more racier, and I feel more confident about driving My personal opinion is that it's a great product, and I recommend them to anyone looking to add a component like this to their bike as long as it is already equipped with Shimano gears because I'm not sure how they will work with stuff from another manufacturer. I have one real complaint about the shifter, there is no indication as to what gear you are in. The indicator is a single orange dot. was a bit odd to start off with, but it worked after a while. They had numbers printed on them when I replaced them.
