I have not observed any problems.
Good product, be careful with this seller. It is easy to shift with this shifter. This is one of the reasons I chose Shimano. The installation was fairly easy, even though there was no hardware installed in the box (see below for more details). Once I had the cable tension adjusted, I took the Shimano EF-S for a test ride and I'm glad I picked these Listed as ST500. My cheap mountain bike was equipped with a 'twist' shifter that had become old and worn. I replaced it with a 'split' shifter and it greatly improved shifting ease, speed, Additionally, the brake levers have been upgraded to Long Pull, and my brakes are even more effective I believe this is a good product. Let's get to the bad points. Everything was trying to be jammed back into the box haphazardly after it was opened, rifled through, and everything wasn't aligned. It is common for me to place orders for Shimano products (e. g. fishing reels, bike parts, etc. ) and know that they are pretty meticulous about packaging during shipping. As a result, I was not surprised to discover hardware missing. A 7-speed shifter cable adjustment collar was missing from the 3 speed shifter and a mounting Allen bolt was missing from the 3 speed shifter. If one has to drive to the hardware store to purchase the necessary parts to put the bike back together after it has been disassembled, this is rather frustrating. As a result of the seller not checking the package prior to shipment, I felt this happened. AN EXCUSE IS NOT AN OPTION! The problem rarely occurs to me for Amazon orders and since I buy a lot of products, I make sure to inform Amazon when it does so.
As a result, I purchased two sets of these to convert two mountain bikes to gear shifts. There are three shifters in each box, but only one of them is packaged properly, the cable laying loose, and they have finger prints all over the shifters. It is funny that there is one box with the front shifter and another box with the rear shifter. According to the mounting ring on the front shifter, scrapes are visible, so it seems the shifter has at least been mounted tend to avoid purchasing used products at a new price, and I have terrible luck when I buy used products, so I only purchase new products. These look like nice shifters, and it's a pity they won't be available.
I bought these to go on the Schwin mini-bike my girlfriend has. The twist gears were on hers as well. As I already had a pair of these on my Motobecane Phantom DS, I knew they would work well. As a matter of fact, I put them on her bike without much difficulty. Even though I am not a pro, it took a while to fine-tune them she loves them when they are all perfect. Compared to the day she purchased it brand new, her bike will shift more smoothly now. Gears shift effortlessly from gear to gear, they're clear and easy to understand. Her bike is so beloved, that she now rides with me. I am so glad that I did not fumble and make a mess of it. Since that is what I used them for, I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade from twist gears. The gears come with my bike too, and I have ridden many miles of trails with them. They have stood up to a lot of abuse, and I have not encountered any failures.
There is a grip shift style shifter on the bike my daughter has. The shifter was extremely difficult for her to rotate. On my bike I have a shifter that is similar to this. I found that it was a good value, and it was a perfect partner for a new derailleur. YouTube has plenty of videos on how to install and adjust shifting systems and derailleurs. It didn't take too long, perhaps an hour or so to tear off all the old stuff, thread in the new cables, and swap out the gears. You'll need a tool to remove the chain, just make sure you have it.
I did finally manage to install these on my bike, however. This was the first time I had done this. I found the installation to be somewhat difficult, but not impossible. The three of them took about an hour each (again it was Getting the front and back derailleurs to line up with the new shifters was the toughest part. As a result, I went on Google and watched a bunch of videos to figure out the answers. An incredible amount of learning had to be accomplished. To understand how the brakes work, the shifters work, and the derailleurs work, one must understand how the components However, after 2 days (over 2 weekends) I was able to get the program to work. Now everything works as it should.
The gear cabal on my old gear set broke. So I bought this set. As a result of this changing leaver, not only the brake cabal, but also the gear cabal can be swapped out easily. Under the Maintenance section, you can find the dealer's manual, which provides detailed instructions on how to replace the gear inner shaft. It is great to have these shift leavers as they assist in smooth shifting when ascending and descending.
This easy-to-install product is easy to set up! I'm very happy with the result! Due to the fact that you are installing new cables, your setup must be adjusted accordingly. There are a few videos on Park Tool that I watched. There was a lot of information shared with me. They explain what they do, how each adjustment can be made, etc.
