My activities as a road cyclist have forced me to try many, many different brands of socks in my lifetime. These have stood the test of time better than anything else. Approximately 7 years ago, I bought some similar to these (a shorter cut). They are comfortable enough that I have worn them around the house. The two of us have walked for short distances outdoors together. They do not have holes, rips or tears to this day. Their form and shape have not changed, and the elastic still works perfectly. They've survived wash after wash without losing a bit of their shape or form. In comparison with four pairs of cycling shoes, it has outlived them all. These are my favorite "active" socks of all the ones I have owned over the years. This item is of very good quality, is light weight yet durable, and is very form-fitting My favorite thing about these socks is that they are comfortable without being tight (no sag), and they are versatile. The reviews didn't give me an idea of what size to purchase. The size 9 I wear in all brands fits well for me and I wear it pretty consistently. Normally I wear size medium socks, but I don't like mine to be too tight, so I purchased the large size socks (size 9 to 12). If I don't stretch them they fit toe to heel just right. But if I do stretch them they are a bit big and the heel rides up above my heel in a bump, which is nice when it is chilly to be able to cover your ankles Rather than fit them from heel to toe, I would rather put them on myself and have them fitted. They indicate on the package that they cannot be tumble dried in a dryer. My clothes are never washed in a washer and once the wash is done, I have to hunt out a pair of socks before they are dried.
