Selected User Reviews For Minoura Moz Roller Folding Trainer Rollers with Step Guard, Silver, Standard
This roller bike trainer is of excellent quality! I was surprised at how sturdy this was for the price; the instructions aren't great, but if you read them before you start, it's not too bad. br>br>I eventually returned it, but not because of any flaws with the product, but because I prefer to multitask while working out. On this, I was using a single speed/fixed gear bike for indoor training on rainy days. The rider is not supported by this trainer. br>br> To stay upright on this trainer, you must focus on the act of balancing as well as maintaining speed and precise direction. If you want to watch TV while riding indoors, you'll most likely fall off of this trainer (haha). br>br>I prefer the stand-up trainer I replaced it with. Where the bike is secured upright and I can concentrate solely on pedaling rather than the bike.
As a long-time cyclist who used to train exclusively indoors on a high-end set of rollers during the off-season, I can attest that these are very good for the money; they aren't flimsy, roll smoothly, and fold up into a neatly sized package. I bought them because this brand, which is made in Japan, has a reputation for being well-designed and well-made in the past. So far, I have not been disappointed. My first ride revealed only one thing: I had forgotten how easy it is to fall over when you're just getting started. Getting started is the most difficult part of roller training. After I had a good laugh at myself for falling over and thinking it wouldn't happen to me! Ha! It happens. . . I didn't find anything that caused me to second-guess my decision. br>br>Now that we've got that out of the way, these rollers just work. They don't appear to have much drag, the drums spin smoothly on their bearings with no noticeable wobble or runout, the frame doesn't rattle or creak, and the wheelbase adjustment worked flawlessly with my frame. The instructions were well-written and easy to follow. br>br>Given that I've only had them for a short time, I can't speak to their long-term quality, but so far they've been reliable. That is, they perform the function of rollers, which is to roll smoothly and efficiently. br>br>As a former Cat 1/2 racer, I can offer some advice on getting started. Tip 1: Starting in a few gears higher than you think is preferable to starting in a lower gear. The gyroscopic effect improves as you spin the drums faster, making it easier to get on the rollers. Tip 2: Be loose on the bike; your natural tendency is to overcorrect by being stiff, which makes it much more difficult to get going in the first few seconds. Ride loosely and comfortably, with a light grip on the handlebars, and take deep breaths. Tip 3: Don't go crazy if you feel like you're about to take off. If you ride away, the wheels will come to a screeching halt, but because you and the bike are both stationary and without momentum, you will not fly into the room or into the wall. You'll just lose your balance. Tip #4: To make things more difficult, shift into higher gears and ride faster. Yes, there is a limit to how much resistance training you can do on rollers without a mag or fan unit, but that aspect of riding is better served by a smart trainer or even the weight room. Rollers are used to improve balance and technique, as well as the overall efficiency of riding gracefully and smoothly. When you watch professional riders race and compare the footage to amateur racers, you'll notice a significant difference in how smoothly they ride; they glide with almost effortless energy. The use of rollers can aid in the development of these skills. I can work up a sweat on rollers just as much as I can on a Zwift smart trainer. You must be able to operate the trainer! Tip 5: If you're looking for a different type of workout, try one-legged riding. Concentrate on smooth pedaling with one leg; you can literally take each foot off the pedal or just ride with the other leg limp. It's more difficult than it appears, and few people attempt to ride this way for more than 30 seconds at a time. Warming up for 5 minutes on each leg before hard rides was a great workout for me. Tip #6: Try sprints if you want to improve quickly. You won't be able to get a good kick, let alone a sprint, if you ride rigidly and frequently horse the bike. When laying on the power, learn to ride smoothly and lean the bike rather than turning the bars. Last but not least, take it slowly and learn as you go. If you get frustrated because you believe you are a great rider and rollers should be simple, you will not enjoy roller training. They are, but you don't just go out and ride roller coasters. Ride them on a regular basis, even if it's only for 20 minutes twice a week, and your first spring ride will reward you for your efforts with a smooth and efficient ride. br>br>In conclusion, rollers are a great training tool, and if you're looking for a set, this is an excellent budget trainer!.
It's beautifully made, but I believe it's too large for my grandson's bicycle.
Although this is a high-quality item, the assembly instructions were difficult to follow. On the longest setting, it just about fits my bike. Because it has 5 or 6 settings, I didn't measure because I assumed it would be fine, but YOU MUST MEASURE! This roller appears to be designed for adolescent children rather than full-grown adults riding full-size bicycles. br>Unfortunately, this means I'll have to start on the "Expert" difficulty level. I'm giving it a 3/5 for beginners because it is for beginners in some ways, but it's aimed at younger people. Not for adult beginners; your bike will most likely fit like mine. br>Getting upright and rolling is the most difficult part. It's a huge help to have that step available. The step attachment is not included in other rollers.
Beautifully designed and versatile in terms of folding. They worked well, but I had some heart rhythm issues when I first started using them, so I only used them twice before returning them and receiving a prompt refund. I am grateful for the customer service that allowed me to return the item.
Completely exceeded my expectations, and it's a great way to stay active during the cold winter months.
Parts scattered in the box and inside zip lock bags, wear marks indicating previous use. Paperwork was handled with care.
Excellent device for low-tech exercises.
