Selected User Reviews For Evoc Bike Tailgate Pad Holds Up to 6 Bikes
There have been so many tailgate pads on the market. Yakima, Race Face T2, Thule Gatemate Pro, and EVOC are a few that I tested. While none of them are perfect, I found EVOC's to be the best of the bunch for my Honda Ridgeline, which has a thicker tailgate than most mid sized pickup The first thing I will tell you is that, no matter which one you pick, be prepared to strap the bikes down. Do not rely solely on velcro straps on your down tube to ensure that they stay upright, as this is more than likely to result in fall. Here is a quick guide to the The padding is nice, but the velcro is horrible. Basically, the straps are built in so they cannot be replaced if they ever fail, and the velcro grip seems to not hold up well either. The Thule Despite having nice velcro straps to adjust it to any bike, I liked this one less. It does have nice padding, but the straps are gigantic, and they will never secure a normal bike down tube. In addition, the pad is too big for the Ridgeline tailgate, and the tailgate cannot be closed with it attached. T2 is The Race Face I believe this was the best quality, but they made it too small to do a good job protecting the tailgate and end of the pickup. The EVOC was a result of that. It's nothing fancy, but it's the right size, has good velcro straps that I could remove and I like the way it attaches to the tailgate with a metal hook system. Keep the metal hooks away from your truck so they will not damage it.
I'm very happy with it. First, one piece of advice I got from several other reviews hit the nail on the head For a full size pickup, order the medium size, especially if you're going to use a tonneau cover. In addition to a Ford F150 with a RETRAX tonneau cover, I have another truck with a KONA tonneau cover. I can fit six bikes comfortably in the medium size with about 2 inches of space on either side and it can fit perfectly in my tailgate. As I can tell, I don't mind removing this pad when not in use because it will be easy to install. My single hitch rack is one I tend to use most of the time because it's easy to lock and unlock. It will be easy to store the Evoc. In order to protect the knees and elbows, the padding is thick enough, but not too thick to prevent folding - Moreover, it is a lightweight device. In my opinion, it looks like the bikes may shift from the rear wheel to the front wheel whilst driving, and that would cause the bike to tip. With a bungee around the wheel or frame and a hook in the bed of the truck, you can prevent this problem. In addition to pockets, I would like the pad to include one or more pockets for carrying any bike accessories I bring with me. I thought it was a little annoying, but it was nice to have. Finally, that RETRAX tonneau that can lock anywhere along its path from front to back means I can lock the tonneau tightly against the tailgate pad and anything can't get inside. I like it!.
Does fit around the tailgate of my 2016 Tacoma, but the flap for the handle and camera does not line up to utilize the camera while By securing my bikes and protecting my truck, I am able to avoid being damaged.
As far as I can tell, it is well-built and has a minimal logo / design, which is exactly The only complaint I have is that the flap for the tailgate handle does not work on the Toyota Tacoma. Since it is difficult to produce a product that fits all, I'm not too hurt, but given the fact that the Tacoma is the #1 best-selling mid-size pickup, I would guess this product will be designed with its customers The camera is totally useless since you can open your tailgate with your hands, but it's still possible to get your hand inside. For that reason, I gave it four.
I like the straps on this bike, but they are a little wide for my narrow framed hardtail, but that doesn't matter It is obvious they had to make them large enough to fit a wide range of frames.
The trailer hitch bike rack (which I will keep for when the truck bed is full) is way better. Because it is so easy to install, I rarely feel the urge to leave it on while I am busy. Holds the bikes perfectly and can be put on and taken off in seconds.
F150 and the lock pad is a bit too wide, so I have to make sure to pull it inwards a bit, in order to not get it stuck Ensures safety when transporting bikes as well as protecting the truck. I have no complaints about the quality of this.
Unfortunately, the shipping service did not deliver the item and I was unable to use this product that I already knew was of good quality because one of my friends has one, so I had to request a refund, hence.
