Questions & Answers

Do the sides of the bag expand outwards like a saddle? Is it just pockets, or are there more?

Pockets are all they are. You'll need a Topeka bag with a suffix of "P" (EXP, DXP, etc.) if you want it to expand down over the back wheels.

Is it necessary to take this with you whenever you leave your bike in public, or is there a way to secure it to the bike? It appears to be easy to steal. ?

No, except for wrapping a bike lock around it; it's easy to put on and take off. When I get off the bike, I get my.

Is there a way to take the water bottle holder off this bag?

It's not sewn into the bag; instead, it's sewn into the bag.

I'd like to pick up my FedEx envelopes and packages using this method. Is it better to get this one or the experience? The size of the dxp is excessive. thanks?

If you're picking up Fedex envelopes, I'd recommend going with the larger size - I have the MTX. Even the one with saddlebags is a good choice. just IMO.

With a few caveats, this is a good bag
4/5

Note: I had the older EX version of this bag for a short time before realizing it was too small for my needs. br>br>This bag is an excellent addition to my wardrobe - The Arkel Grocery Bag and the Ortlieb Commuter QL 3 are the other panniers I have. When I know I won't be taking my computer to or from work on a particular day, I put it in this bag. Advantages: br>br> br>Small enough to fit a change of clothes for work, a large lunch, a small notepad, bike tools, and phone/keys/wallet in. br>In comparison to the EX version's tiny mesh siding, this model's side pockets actually hold things. br>The installation appears to be safe. br>Reflective strips have a lot of shine to them. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. Mesh on top isn't particularly helpful. br>Even after being adjusted, the water bottle holder does not hold smooth bottles well. A kleen kanteen is missing from my possession. br>The addition of a water bottle holder to this model eliminates the strap that makes it easy to remove the bike from the rack, making it a little more difficult to slide off if the rack isn't perfectly straight (my super tourist DX rack had a bump in the middle). If you have a Topeak Explorer rack or any other rack without a lowered side rail, this and other traditional-style racks will be too wide for you to use. If you want to mount a pannier at the same time, Ortlieb QL racks will suffice. br>br>Neutral br>neutral br>neutral br>neutral br> br>Zippers don't inspire confidence based on other reviews and a cursory glance, but I've yet to encounter any issues. Overall: br>br> For the convenience, it's well worth it. When I use this instead of my full side panniers, I can feel how much lighter my bike is, which is nice. br>Great for day trips or day rides where you want to bring lunch. br>There are a few minor issues depending on the hardware and water bottles you already have.

For most day rides, this is a great pack
5/5

I've had this bag for over a month and am a big fan of it, as well as the Topeak rack system. For shopping trips, I use the Topeak MTX Rear Bicycle Basket, but this bag is adequate for most everyday rides. It holds a surprising amount of stuff thanks to the expandable capability, though probably not enough if you're commuting and need a change of clothes, laptop, or other items. Still, the main compartment will hold a U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U-shaped U A well-made lock, a cable, and a well-made lock as well as a packed lunch The side pockets will store items that require quick access, and the outer wall is rigid, so whatever you put inside will be reasonably safe. I've only used the water bottle holder a few times and haven't had any issues, though I'm not sure if I'd trust it on a bumpy road if your water bottle is too large for the cords to securely wrap around the top of the bottle. br>br>Although the locking mechanism that secures the bag to the rack has never failed me, I still secure the bag to my seat post with a small bungee cord as a precaution. Even on bumpier rides, the back loop secures my Cygolite taillight. Overall, I like how easy and quick it is to remove this from the rack when I lock up my bike, and how easy it is to carry the bag with the handle. This is an excellent item.

Love it
5/5

Perfect for my new electric bicycle, with nice side pockets and the ability to expand. I found exactly what I needed. Due to the lack of usable outside pockets in the smaller EX version, I returned it. This one is much more expensive, but it's well worth it because I plan to keep it for a long time, and it's expandable on top (zipper). The Peak rack is compatible with the hard bottom with track. We do, however, have pre-existing pre-existing pre-existing pre-exist We had already installed racks, so we ordered the Peak adapter, which we hope will attach to our existing racks and allow us to mount using the bottom tracks rather than the old bungy method. We haven't received adapters yet (they're on their way), so we'll update when they arrive, but we're hoping they'll be able to mount the bag so it can be slid right onto the rack using the track. br>THE TOPEAK RACK ADAPTER HAS BEEN UPDATED: Everything is in order. Amazon has a $16 price range for this book. We used only two strong wire ties pulled super tight to secure the adapter to the rack instead of drilling holes. The bag is easy to put on and take off, and the wire ties secure the adapter to the bike rack. This is a low-cost, high-results hack. Look at the image.

I found exactly what I was looking for
5/5

But I had to come up with a workaround. My seat is set back and low enough that when the pack is locked normally, it presses against it. I simply secured it with a couple zip ties and pushed it back a little. That is exactly how it works. I don't have to take it off, but it's simple to put back on. If necessary, I'll zip tie it or simply allow it to rest on the seat. br>br>I have a model with the zip-out panniers that I purchased years ago. I was using it on both of my bikes, so I got the smaller one with the panniers for each of them. It was ineffective due to its small size, so it was returned. br>br>I already have regular panniers and only needed a trunk bag. I was already storing my phone in the side compartment most of the time. So now I have my old one on one bike where I can use the zipout panniers, and my new one on the bike where I do the majority of my daily rides. I like the side compartments, and if I know I'll need them, I can use my other panniers. br>br>In the middle compartment, I keep my tools and tube. I use the water bottle holder to keep a small spare with me. br>br>It would be great if I could use it the way it was intended, which I can do on one bike, but it was simple to rig and very secure. Just in case, I'm carrying extra zips.

It appeals to me
5/5

For years, I rode with a backpack on my back. It's a lot more enjoyable to have your back free. In one side compartment, I keep all of my repair equipment, such as tubes, CO2 crackers, CO2 canisters, multi hex key, patches, and so on. In a separate side compartment, I keep my phone, wallet, external phone battery, phone charger cord, and keys. Sunglasses, a headlamp, a bike lock, spear water bottles, and occasionally a beer or two are all kept in the center compartment. I can store all of those items without having to raise the center compartment's height. The trunk is very secure in its position. Since installing it in May, I've driven over 500 miles on it and it's still looking good and performing as expected. Hold on to your belongings. It isn't locked in place. It has shoulder straps so you can carry it with you.
