An ascender like this one is comparable to the big name ascenders such as Petzl. It is a little heavier in weight, but not in price, so I don't want to spend a hundred dollars on a piece of gear that I'll only use a few times per year, when I can just use a prusik instead. A ascending is used to check if a block of cheap and reliable is there. With UIAA, EN, and CE approvals, I know it will give me the warm and fuzzy I desire. A feature on the thumb piece that I enjoy is the down climb. If you just need to descend a few feet, this is great. My overall opinion is that it is definitely recommended. It is good to know that CT is a reputable brand that meets all safety standards and has a low price tag without sacrificing the.

Caves that are vertically oriented are good for climbing. This is an awesome hand ascend. The quality of this device is far superior to P3TzL's (no plastic parts) and it is significantly cheaper.
