There is no snap to close it. Basically, the top closes the same way a regular toilet top does. There is only room for a child on the top. I don't know how small it is.

Years ago I had a bucket lid that snapped onto it like a normal lid- My heart breaks for those who have lost a loved one. It was a huge disappointment, for sure! It is not designed for travel, since it is not attached to anything at all. A negative star will not be allowed.

As a result, we placed a big chlorine bucket, along with a 5 gal. bucket, inside a big bucket to raise the height of the toilet. I held odors inside with no problem. A seat that can support up to 300 lbs without deteriorating in quality. Only con There is a little space in the hole of the seat for a cleaning brush, so you'll have to stand up to clean it. Cleans up easily. Comes in a compact and easily storable package.
Walking to the john in the middle of the night is not very conducive to sleep.
A 5 gal. Home Depot tank fits fine, but it is not snug enough to use for a single use setup if a plastic sheet is placed over the seat. The bucket would be better smelling if it had kitty litter to absorb odors. During our camping trip, our teddy bear did exactly what was expected of it. It would be wise to purchase the ez pop up changing room so that you can feel private.
In my opinion, it's a genius idea to purchase the emergency toilet seat bucket cover, and be aware that it's basically for worst case scenario situations. Having just watched hurricane Dorian make landfall in the Bahamas, we felt shaken to the core. So, if in the future we were to evacuate and stuck in a traffic jam for 5 hours with no bathroom and out of gas, we would not have to worry about a bathroom.
I also was not keen on the fact that you cannot use the bucket handle while it is attached. If you need to carry it somewhere else, you will either have to remove the top and replace it with a snap-on lid, or you will have to pick up the whole bucket. In summary, this is not a bad deal for the price, as it does the job. The barn where the toilets aren't available is where we use it.
It was my first experience with this brand as I was looking for a cheaper price, but it disappointed me very much. In my entire life, I'll not have to buy another lid that will not fit a standard 5-gallon bucket from Home Depot or Lowe's! I would have had to give it only one star had that been the main purpose of the lid. It appears that the seat itself is fine in terms of quality. There are just too many parts for it to fit tightly onto.
