Over the last ten years, I've owned five or six Garmin watches. My previous device was a Garmin Instinct, which is great for hiking but lacks some of the health trackers I'd like. This watch is beautiful, slim, and small enough that I don't mind wearing it all of the time. The O2, sleep, stress, body battery, and heart rate monitors are among my favorite health trackers. Although the O2 monitor is less accurate than my dedicated pulse oximeter, I'm interested in trends rather than absolute numbers. The GPS is precise and reliable, and it connects quickly. Overall, this is the best Garmin I've ever used.
After doing a lot of research, I decided to go with the Garmin. I really like the tracker's size and shape. It gives you a lot of information, both on the tracker and in the app. It automatically syncs with MyFitnessPal, which saves time inputting workouts and other information. The only drawback is that the screen does not always come up when I tap or raise my wrist, but given all of the other benefits, this isn't a deal breaker. Garmin is a brand I'd buy again.
The screen protectors were a waste of money, but the external battery is useful. I purchased the watch with the external battery and screen protectors. I wish I could give the screen protectors their own review because they're a waste of money. I really like the watch, but I wish I had chosen a different combo package with bands or something. The portable battery, on the other hand, will come in handy on long days at the beach or on a golf course. All of the screen protectors caused me to have issues. I went through four of them and couldn't get them to peel away from the protective plastic that keeps your fingers and spit off the actual sticky side; however, the watch itself is incredible. I'd rather they just sold the watch and you went out and bought your own accessories. br>br>At times, the watch does not appear to be very accurate with heart rate or stress level (I consider stress to be a gimmick). The stock watch faces are pretty meh, so getting Connect IQ for custom watch faces is a must. I haven't had the opportunity to test its accuracy on the golf course yet, but a friend has the VivoActive 4 and it appears to be 10-percent more accurate than the VivoActive 3. A good rangefinder can tell you how far away you are, sometimes as much as 20 yards.
It arrived promptly, and the finished product appears to be excellent. Unfortunately, it switched to the blue triangle before I could finish setting it up and hasn't changed since. Something this expensive should be thoroughly tested before being shipped to a customer. They quickly approved my return.
I like everything about it, except the watchface doesn't light up when you twist your wrist; you have to tap it several times to get a display. When I try to see what time it is, the screen turns black and does not respond to movement. It can be extremely aggravating. At the very least, the Vivoactive has a constant display, and the Galaxy Watch is far more responsive to wrist "on" movement. Other than that, it's a nice watch that gives you a lot of information through the Garmin app. When it comes to outdoor activities, GPS is unrivaled.
TL; DR The Garmin Venu 2s is an excellent device, but do not purchase the screen protector bundle. It is preferable to purchase the watch from Garmin or another vendor and then purchase screen protectors separately. br>br>As soon as I got the package, I tried to put the screen protector on right away. The screen protector comes with two protective layers: one that is removed before application (covering the "sticky" side), and one that is applied afterward (covering the touch side). It's VERY HARD to get rid of the first layer. I had to use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the protective layer after three failed attempts (out of a pack of four). Using the pliers, of course, resulted in minor damage to the screen protector's edge. I didn't put the battery pack to the test, but the screen protector was a complete disaster.
br>When I saw Garmin pop up in my research, I decided to look into it and give it a shot, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise: this watch is amazing and provides all of the level of detail I'm looking for. The user interface is simple to navigate, and the accuracy of the readings is impressive. 100% Recommend.
The music function is still a mystery to me, and Bluetooth only works occasionally. Overall, I'm pleased with the watch; I'm still learning and exploring all of its features.
