I bought it to use as a map display during my rides, particularly mountain biking. At home, I experimented with all of the settings and downloaded some trail maps. Unfortunately, while playing with the maps, I discovered that the display was simply too small and illegible for me to read without reading glasses, rendering it useless while out on the trails. If you're more interested in the metrics than the maps, that's fine because the metrics are easily visible, even to me. br>I returned it and now use a protective case and the KOM universal Garmin adapter to mount my phone. Google Maps, Trail Forks, and Adidas Running (in cycling mode) are some of the apps I use. FYI, three hours of biking while using any of these GPS apps consumes approximately 70% of my phone charge, so I carry an Anker light-weight phone. The battery is heavy, and the USB cable is short. Just in case, I have a C cable.

This Garmin bike computer will become an essential part of your cycling workouts, and it's easy to sync with Strava routes. It's also very simple to create workouts and sync them to your device. I've started using it for interval training, which is making me a better rider with each workout.
This device is capable of performing a wide range of tasks. I use it to plaMan trial on the road bike because it gives me a lot of options for data points that I want to see. br> The touch screen is also very responsive, and I use it on my local mtb trials because it gives me a lot of good dynamic feedback in the connect app. The unit and sensors are excellent in general.
For the past six months, I've been using the 830. I really like how small the computer is and how many features it has. There are no issues. I would buy from them again! It's what I use for both my road and mountain bikes.
With the use of sensors, I can even log my mileage on an indoor exercise bike in my living room.
The speed and cadence sensors add some useful information to your indoor trainer rides. The 830 was simple to set up and is a significant improvement over my Garmin 510. It'll take some time for me to get used to all of the features on the 830.
Love it! The touch screen is responsive and gives me all of the information I need. The light/radar bundle is a little on the pricey side, but it is well worth it.
