Questions & Answers

What is the difference between this and the Rayovac Sportsman LED Lantern?

240 Lumens = Rayovac. Streamlight has a lumen output of 175 lumens.

Is it appropriate for an outdoor dinner or is the light too harsh?

It does not bother me in the least. However, if you want a lantern that is more decorative while still providing light for a tabletop of diners, the New Streamlight 44941 (it's the mini-version) is a good choice. Siege) is a game that runs on three different types of batteries. AA batteries have a smaller footprint, and at 200 lumens or less, it's quiet, subtle, and unobtrusive. easy. It also has a red-and-white checkered pattern. "Darling" was the name my wife gave to the light mode. The lantern is incredibly adorable. For the record, I've bought 15 Siege 44931 and 4 Siege 44941 since 2018, and I'm in love with them. It's the best camping lantern I've seen so far. My reviews can be found here.

How long will the lantern stay lit in the high-light mode before the batteries run out?

It is expected to last for about 30 hours.

Not at all what was advertised
3/5

I received two lanterns, neither of which was the model advertised. It should've been the Siege streamlight, which has a brightness of 540 lumens. Instead, it was 340 lumens which is 60% less bright than normal lumens. I told Amazon about the problem, and they sent me another one the next day, but it was the older, less powerful model. I discovered that some vendors are still shipping the older, less powerful model based on the responses to my questions. Amazon has been notified of the issue and will investigate. After inspecting the lantern, I was very pleased with it. It's well-made and compact, but it's not what it claims to be. My returns were processed quickly by Amazon.

The Streamlight (Siege) vs
5/5

the Streamlight (Siege) Rayovac (SE3DLN) is a name for a type of vacuum cleaner. To begin, I now own six Streamlight Siege flashlights and four Rayovac SE3DLN flashlights. I keep extras on hand in case my children or their families require them. Points in favor of the Streamlight Siege: 1. br>br> The Siege has stronger spring 'D' clips with retainers on the top and bottom.
2. The top handle on the Siege has enough tension to stay upright even when angled, whereas the (SE3DLN) does not. br> When trying to lift the light in the dark, this comes in handy.
3. There are three white modes and two red modes in the Siege. The (SE3DLN) has three white modes, no red mode, and no 30 lumen mode for 295 hours of continuous use. br>The Siege's SOS mode is red, whereas the (SE3DLN)'s is white. br>4. When the Siege is turned on or off, the on/off button illuminates and displays the remaining battery life.
5. It's a LOT easier to re-use the bottom cover. After changing the batteries, simply line up the large single triangle shaped shaft, push down, and twist, whereas the (SE3DLN) requires lining up two small 1/16" wide notches, then pushing down, and twisting. Anyone who owns both lights can quickly determine that the Siege can be reloaded in complete darkness by simple feel, whereas the (SE3DLN) cannot. Despite the fact that I've heard of people using glow-in-the-dark material to help mark the notches on the (SE3DLN).
5. The Siege has a full non-violent rating. With the over off, ANSI 340 lumens, whereas the (SE3DLN) is now ANSI 240 lumens, whereas it was previously non-compliant. ANSI 300. I'm not sure if the 240br> refers to with or without the top on. When lighting up a room or an outdoor area, the Siege shines brighter in both cases. The Siege has not yet been ANSI rated.
6. When not in use, the on/off button on the Siege does not blink, whereas it does on the (SE3DLN). br> While some people prefer the (SE3DLN) blinking because it makes it easier to find the light in complete darkness, others, including myself, do not. Points in favor of the (SE3DLN): 1. br>br> The (SE3DLN) will set you back around $25, while the Siege will set you back around $40.
2. The entire light on the (SE3DLN) is covered by a limited lifetime warranty, whereas the electronics and switches on the Siege are only covered for two years. If misuse or abuse is discovered, they both have the option of not covering it. br>br>As much as I like my older Rayovac (SE3DLN) lights, which have served me well, I prefer the newer Streamlight Siege. The convenience of changing batteries and the 295-hour low-light mode are the main reasons. I can change batteries on the Siege in complete darkness without my glasses, but I need my glasses and some light with the (SE3DLN). br>br>In my opinion, the Siege's additional features are well worth the extra $15. br>br>As others have said, there isn't anything about the Siege that I don't like, and I honestly can't think of any improvements I would make within reason. br>br>Both lights are excellent, and you can't go wrong with either, but for my needs, the Siege is the clear winner. br>br>Buy the Streamlight Siege and see for yourself what I and others have been saying. *****Update 10 br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br 2013: br>br>After learning that the Siege is not ANSI rated, I've updated the review above. Also, I tested four different sets of alkaline and rechargeable batteries from four different companies, and they only lasted 15 hours on high instead of the advertised 30 hours, and that was only until the red light came on, not until it went completely dark. All of the lights I've tested, including the Rayovac SE3DLN, grossly exaggerate the runtimes. I assume they do this to avoid appearing inferior to their competitors, hoping that no one will notice. br>br>Overall, I continue to give the Siege a "5". br>br>*****Update 10- 2013: br>br>When I emailed Streamlight with questions about the ANSI rating and the 30-hour runtime, they responded as follows: br>br>The ANSI standard only applies to "directional lighting," not lanterns like the Siege. As a result, we are unable to use the ANSI symbols in our claims. br>br>However, the measurements that were used for our advertising claims were taken using ANSI procedures. 340 lumens (our HIGH mode claim) is a perfectly valid measurement taken in one of our calibrated integrating spheres, which are also used for ANSI-compliant testing. products that have been ranked br>br>The 30 hour run time on HIGH complies with ANSI protocols as well. The ANSI run time begins 30 seconds into a run with new batteries (where the lumen claim is taken) and ends when the lumen output falls to 10% of the initial 30 second reading (When using the Siege on HIGH, the output drops to 34 lumens, signaling the end of the run time according to ANSI protocols. ) ) I understand if the 10% figure offends you, but it is in accordance with the ANSI standard.

I have attached the Product Fact Sheet for the Siege. These sheets can be found under the "Docs/Info" tab on the individual product pages of our website for all products. The difference was in the handle
5/5

When you first receive something, you may not appreciate it. For me, it was the lantern's handle. When I first saw it, I thought it was some sort of wacky marketing stunt. This is my go-to camp light after a few camping trips. br>The odd handle is ideal; simply hang it from a pipe (on the awning) and grab it when needed. Pipes in the camp bathroom are being repaired, as are tree branches and, as previously stated, the awning. Lift up and over is all that is required. There are no snaps or rings to fiddle with. br>The red led light is the second item I never expected to use. This isn't unique to this light; it's just another marketing ploy, in my opinion. I found it to be extremely useful once more. I'm not sure if you've ever walked around a campground in the dark, but it can be difficult to figure out where your campsite is when there are so many other tents, RVs, or jeeps that all appear to be the same at night. I turn on the red stead light, toss it up on the roof, and go out to see who else needs to be visited. When I return around the loop or to my campsite, the red beacon shows me exactly where I am.

Strange greasy substance
3/5

About two years ago, I purchased this small lantern. I first saw it three years ago and was blown away. I go around the house replacing batteries in everything with fresh ones, stocking up on water, and so on, as I do every hurricane season. I've never needed these things, but I want to be prepared. Anyway, the little lantern wouldn't turn on, so it was fortunate that I was doing my battery refresher routine. I discovered an oily substance all over the battery compartment when I opened it. It wasn't the batteries that were the source of the problem. It sounded like it was coming from the casement. There was also a beige paste-like substance in the track that the bottom screws into. Unfortunately, even with new batteries, this little guy was no longer functional. It had been stored in the interior of the house, where it was air conditioned, and had not been used very much. I'm not sure what you're talking about. And, to be honest, I don't recall paying this much ($35-$50) for it. a thing) I intend to purchase another one and will inspect it for this design flaw on a regular basis to see if it manifests itself. I'll be able to return it for a refund if I find it at a time that corresponds to the purchase date.
