There is a 12 hour runtime on 3 AA batteries, and the bulbs are 350 lumens. For the lamp to run for 12 hours if it had 5,000 lumens, it would take a lot of AA batteries! See the Ace Hardware website. The price is clearly indicated as
Plastic won't work after being run over by a truck since it's made of plastic. Having accidentally dropped mine (and being short I didn't even fall that far), my computer has not worked since.
My first one I bought quite some time ago was awesome and I still love it As well as me, I cannot take the cover off. As if something is blocking the cover from turning, it feels as if it is stuck. What if the battery fell?
The light comes on when you pull up on the handle, so there is no switch.

I collect lanterns, so I had to check it out when I saw a box that said "the brightest lantern you want to own". A propane or liquid fuel lantern typically produces around 790 lumens (of which this only matches I have been running it for several hours now and it has proven to be very reliable. My experience with the durability of this unit is that I accidentally sat it down hard and it turned off and would not turn back on until I smacked the bottom of it. There is no way I would believe their website claim that it can withstand falls of 50 feet. It is probably the internal switch that turns the lantern on when the top is raised that is the shaky point in Except for that, it appears to be very fair for the price. However, the sales pitch that says they use the same technology as the military and special forces is somewhat deceptive. You could say the same about the refrigerator inside my house using the same technology you would see in a military refrigerator. These lanterns are advertised on their site with terms like "military grade" and "combat ready," but they never claim that any military unit uses them. On the pic we've got a real military lantern next to the Atomic Beam.
This unit was powered by rechargeable batteries of 2500mAh. Two hours after the LED strips were first turned on, one of the LED strips started melting the reflector and falling A gift I had given earlier to someone did the same thing after I bought one at Walmart. As far as I can tell, it has no warning against the use of rechargeable batteries, which I use with almost everything and which should be ideal but a good part of the LED strip involved has burned up, and now there is a reflective coating over it.
The O rings that dampen/lock the cylinder in place broke after less than a few minutes of use, probably less than a dozen times sliding the lantern in and out. Upon taking it apart, I discovered that the internal components are extremely cheap and frail. With just one disassembly and reassembly, two out of four screws holding the battery compartment stripped out. There is only one internal micro switch on the lantern that controls its on/off. It is silly and inefficient to slide or block light to adjust the brightness. Usually a $18 purchase should provide us with an electronic brightness adjustment, a better quality product but still mostly in plastic, not like this.
I greatly enjoyed having this lamp as my main source of light when we were out of power for ten days as a result of Hurricane Irene. It was great that it took AA batteries and that they lasted for a full 10 days. This is a very bright light. One bulb is all you need to light the.
It is exactly what it says it is. This is a nice product, very bright, and it can hang from both ends. On the base are strong magnets that keep the lantern attached to metal surfaces.
I love it - it is bright as hell! A unit that listed 350 lumens did not have the same brightness as my previous one.
Purchasing more is in the works! This lamp provides bright light where it is needed. I also like the fact that it only requires two "AA" batteries instead of the more costly "C" or "D".
While hurricane Irma hit, it was great.
