It would be great if it had true high/low light settings. The lantern will give off a bright light for about 4 hours with the batteries included (just looking at it gives me a headache). There will be a decrease in light after 4 hours. Approximately 8 p. m. , The light output is equivalent to that of a night light after 12 hours. The lantern remains on past its advertised 30 hours runtime.
I wish it had a low/high output option instead of the forced 20% bright light at the beginning and 80% br>The only way to "adjust" the output is to push the top down and block the light with the housing. Regardless of how exposed/open the lantern is, the batteries will discharge at the same rate. Two night lights can be seen on the left in the photos. The top one is a fancy "newer" motion night light, while the one below it is an old night light that emits light in response to ambient light. The lantern can be found to your right. br>The lantern has been on for 34 hours and 35 minutes, emitting less light than the night light on the top. br>In the other picture, the lantern outshines the night light when the batteries are new.

The lanterns are exceptionally bright and well constructed. It appears to be a high-quality product, and the two metal bars lock securely. Brightness control would be nice, as it consumes a lot of battery power. br>I'm deducting two stars because the description is misleading. As other commenters have pointed out, the "up to 30 hours" is actually 3 hours.

As stated in the summary. br>"The Sunlit Lantern's upgraded COB LED design provides 360-degree illumination. " The standard 30 LED lantern pales in comparison to the 360-degree blazing illumination. "br>br>I'm not sure what they mean by "standard 30 LED lantern," but this isn't any brighter than Vonts and doesn't even come close to outshining them. They are, however, comparable in my opinion. br>br>It appears to be a well-made (plastic) product that is sufficiently sturdy. You can't go wrong with these at this price. They're a good value for the money, and hopefully they'll last a long time. br>br>EDITED > > br>I just finished running one of the lanterns for about four minutes. The light has already dimmed after only 5 hours. I have serious doubts about the manufacturer's claim of 30 hours in the description. This is unquestionably a misrepresentation of their product, and I'm not surprised! Another star has been taken away.

They were never compact, got extremely hot, and you had to be careful not to break the mantle/wick. In fact, you always had extras on hand just in case something went wrong. You may even want to bring extra propane bottles on long backpacking trips. With these lanterns, that is no longer the case. They're bright, and they give my camp plenty of light. I keep a few extra AA batteries in my bag instead of bulky, heavy propane bottles. In fact, Duracell batteries were included. not the low-cost generic batteries that are frequently included with TV remote controls. The construction is solid and well-thought-out. This is something I can take with me from outside to inside my tent. I never did that with my smoldering propane lantern. What's more, the price is for two! Wow. What's not to like about that?.

I was concerned that they were too small because they were sold in pairs. They're the ideal size for storage and take up very little space. The lantern telescopes down to the lantern's base. These lanterns emit a tremendous amount of light. This size lantern can be used in any household. They'll come in handy in the event of a power outage.

It has a lot of light in it - You don't want to stare at it straight in the face - I was also taken aback by the fact that there is only one light setting. However, I can't complain because it wasn't designed with level control. One way to dim it is to remove it partially from its housing, allowing only a portion of the light to shine through while maintaining the same battery consumption. br>br>If I had to buy one again, I'd look for different brightness levels so that the battery life could be extended when a lower brightness level is desired. br>br>It's nice to have the magnetic base.

It gives off enough light to fill a room, but not quite as much as more expensive Gear Light lanterns. It's well-made and far superior to the equipment I used in Boy Scouts more than 50 years ago. (Do you recall the Coleman's from your childhood?) the bulky white gasoline can that must be carried around). It's convenient that it uses common AA batteries (which are included!). My only gripe is that staring directly into the light can be blinding, but the instructions warn against this. When using for close reading, I might cover it with a piece of cardboard. It would be ideal for camping, backpacking, roadside or other emergency situations, as well as temporarily lighting closets or other dark spaces. I'm putting away my kerosene lamps.

I've previously purchased flashlights from Gear Light and have been very pleased with my purchases. For the upcoming hurricane season (I live on the Texas Gulf Coast), I had decided to purchase a lantern-style light to add to my emergency preparedness kit. br>While looking for lantern lights, I came across this set of two from Gear Light, which I decided to purchase based on the quality of the Gear Light flashlights I had previously purchased. They didn't let me down in any way. br> Not only were batteries included for both lanterns, but they were Duracell batteries, which was a pleasant surprise!.
