Selected User Reviews For Coleman Lantern Generator for Model No'S. 220, 228
A Coleman model 228F I picked up from an estate sale is the best I've ever owned. Despite the fact that this model was discontinued in 1971, these gas lanterns are still better than anything you can find A lot of cheap plastic parts are used today, but the lanterns look similar to that of a century ago. I found that the ORIGINAL generator (p/n 220E5891) was still in the lantern and it was still functional. A few parts had been damaged, however, including the needle, which no longer worked and the cardboard tube that was inside the generator, which looked dry rotten (probably after being stored in a shed for ninety A light flickered and it was necessary to pump a lot of air and fuel through the old generator (I think it had worn out and was letting in too much fuel and air). My old generator was in need of replacement, so I bought this It looks as though the materials were the same as those used when the design was developed. There is now a steady light and it is holding pressure for a longer period of time. I'm going to pick up a second one and keep it in my closet as a backup. This is a direct original replacement for the gas generator (p/n 220E5891), but I'm not sure it's stated on the package. I recommend that if you see some of this old stuff for sale at a garage sale, you buy it since it may last for a lifetime or perhaps the lifetime of your children. Oh, did I mention this lantern can burn gasoline in addition to Coleman.
I've been using a Coleman "gasoline" powered lantern for years, and the Coleman generator allows me to turn it on when a tune-up In the event that the lantern does not light up with a strong flame, you need to replace the generator. The Coleman I have has been with me for 40 years. An old person.
It works perfectly. My favorite thing to do is buy old Coleman products and put them back to use. Originally, my son had a lantern like this. Everything worked as expected.
I found setting up the generator to be quite simple. I was able to restore my old 220J to like-new condition. Despite my purchase being a bit pricey, I am happy with it. This lantern is a bit pricey for what it is, a small brass tube with a spring, cardboard tube, and so forth, but I expect it to last for a few My favorite thing to do when I light my Coleman Lantern is think back to my childhood.
Only genuine Coleman parts are used. The white gas lanterns made by Coleman are no longer available on the market. The only sports and hiking shops that have propane or electricity are the outdoor stores. Take a spare and store it away.
The shipping was very fast and I am extremely satisfied with it.
As I suspected, it was an exact match. Would you please let me know what else I need to know?.
I replaced the generator and the lanter started burning like new again.
