The glow is not affected by temperature. The amount and length of time they were exposed to the sun ultimately determines how much they glow throughout the evening.
A window can be used to charge, but the intensity and, to a lesser extent, the length of exposure will determine how long it will glow into the night.
You can use any zipper pull to attach them to. They simply loop through the zipper tab hole and secure it by looping over themselves. You should be fine as long as the zipper tab is open.

What a complete and utter rip-off!
- Although the product photo shows four pulls, only two are included in the package. Yes, it says 2- pack. It was my fault for misreading this and assuming they meant something else. It's their fault for not displaying it in the condition in which it's being sold.
- For four pulls, I thought this was a great deal. However, for just two pulls, it's far too much.
This zipper pull is one of my favorites. I spent more money on shipping than I did on a single pair of shoes. It had been well worth the effort. It has a nice glow to it, and it works well as a pull tab on my Leatherman Juice and Swiss Army Knives. I plan to buy 5 more pairs to use as pull tabs on my multitools and winter jackets. Be aware that my two-pair order had to be split between two different suppliers when I placed my order. When several suppliers charge shipping separately, the costs quickly add up. The cord isn't reflective, so I'm giving it a 4/5.
The cordage used to make these zipper pulls is very thin. I wish there was a larger or thicker version in larger size 10 zippers for large canvas tents, so that it could be used more securely. We did, however, put them on with a thicker zipper pull to go along with them. They shine brightly for a few hours after dusk and come in handy for clumsy campers who are first-timers in the tent. We rent tents to people who can't afford to bring their own. We're always on the lookout for new products to try out with first-time campers that will make the experience so memorable that they'll want to camp outdoors for the rest of their lives; it's the only way we'll be able to save the environment if we familiarize the climate-controlled masses with the outdoors, because the environment is so harsh for them that every little convenience helps. The number one issue we have is preserving our zippers, which we adore and have purchased a pair for each one. They'll work well for window zippers. However, as I previously stated, the cord on the door zips is very thin and small, making them more of a glow-in-the-dark accessory. It's a good thing, in my opinion.
I purchased this item for my Snugpak Hammock Cocoon. I wanted glow-in-the-dark zipper pulls because it zips up over your head and is completely dark inside. These do a good job and stay lit, albeit dimly, for a long time. They are, however, bright enough that if your eyes have adjusted to the darkness, you will be able to see them. My only criticism is that they are a little too expensive for what they are. I'd like to see three things for $7. There are four of them in the package.

These zipper pulls were used to replace the original zipper pulls on a product, and they are made of a durable material that should last for many years. The glow-in-the-dark element is a fun parlor trick for me. The zip pulls do glow, but it fades as expected; however, if you really want a glow, zap them with an LED flashlight and they will glow. This is a good zipper pull for you if you want to customize your gear and don't mind the occasional glow.
In the dark, they're difficult to spot because they're so small. The tip of your little finger should be no more than a quarter of an inch in diameter. After that, they use their black logo to cover up half of the area. There are a plethora of far superior options available. Make a financial plan.
Like others, I purchased these for a purpose other than a tent, and they are excellent. I used these for cycling Pannier bags because they are perfect for a larger zipper that you might need to see at night. The cord material (reflective would be nice) could have been given a little more thought. Overall, it was an excellent experience.
