They float, to be sure: vertically rather than horizontally
I don't see any indication of when the item was manufactured. However, the ones I got have an expiration date of October 22nd and have been working fine.
I purchased glow sticks with a 2008 expiration date. And, believe it or not, they continue to perform their duties as if they had just left the factory.

I had hoped they'd be better. When my husband was in the Army, he had Chem lights, which lit up a large area when we needed them during power outages. Now that he's retired, I'm forced to purchase these on the cheap. Because of the positive reviews on this site, I decided to purchase a large pack. I was completely mistaken. While they do produce colors once the inner chem is broken, they do not illuminate any real area. They appear to glow in their respective colors, but that's all there is to it. I was standing in the dark with only the color of the stick to guide me. I was a little let down. I tried it at different heights: high, low, and normal. All I could see was the lovely color of the snap-ons once more. I could see the light, but I couldn't see anything else. I'm not going to buy any more of them. I guess I'll have to look for some that are military-grade.
My glow sticks came in a thin bubble pack that wasn't sturdy enough to keep three glow sticks from breaking. Please, Amazon, consider the contents of your shipment and the risk of damage. I believe you should refund 10 of my purchase price as well as all of my shipping charges. The item itself appears to be of good quality.
Because they are bright and provide consistent light, I use these light sticks for a variety of displays, from Halloween to Christmas. I give them to friends and family for fun during our city's summer concert series under the stars.
I've tried a few different light stick brands and these are the brightest and longest-lasting. They've been on my wish list for a long time. I have a few in my car and in my bugout bag. They're a must-have in case of an emergency. I've also used them at home during power outages, when walking in areas without lighting (such as during travels in developing countries), to light the way to the bathroom in a hotel suite, and to navigate obstacles at night after a move when there are boxes everywhere.
I bought these for power outages because I used to be in the military and we always used cyalume. I went to use them when one occurred, but the green ones were the only ones bright enough to see my hand in front of my face. I would not purchase this item again.
I've bought hundreds of this brand and they've always been excellent.
When they arrived, they were much brighter than I had expected, and I would recommend them to anyone who needs to highlight areas in the dark. We use them as walkway lights to draw attention to specific areas.
Nothing else will be purchased. Long lasting, bright, and ideal for children or in the event of a power outage. Get some.
