I believe the bag will suffice. So long as the mouth is large enough to accommodate the entire pen.
My daughter and I took it on the Appalachian Trail for a week and had no problems; we did not re-pack it. We only used the steri pen when we first filled the water bottle, so we had to sterilize it every time we drank from it. It was also used to sterilize the water we poured into our three-liter Camelbacks. We used two purification systems--one because there were a couple of contaminated water advisories posted when we went, and the other because there were a couple of contaminated water advisories posted when we went. The Sawyer mini and the Steripen are both miniature versions of the Sawyer. just to be on the safe side, but we never re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re Every time we drank, it was purified.
It depends on your definition of "charging." " The cord is included in the box (though it is a standard cellphone cord). This is not the case with a wall charger. Because the SteriPen does not require a high-powered charger, any charger with a USB port will suffice. wall-mounted output unit

SteriPEN Customer Support Reps are unresponsive. When a problem arose, I had trouble getting in touch with SteriPen customer service representatives, so I gave them a negative rating. My SteriPEN refused to treat stream water on three of the most inconvenient occasions (once in Nepal, twice in the Montana Rockies), instead signaling "bad or damaged bulb. " The unit would mysteriously start working again by the time I got home. I called SteriPEN three times in the 10 days leading up to this writing, and each time I got a recording saying that all representatives were busy helping other customers and that they would call me back. I also tried email twice, receiving a computer-generated error message each time. After five attempts, I received no callback or email from SteriPEN, despite the generated response stating that I would receive an email response within 48 hours. I registered my device with SteriPEN shortly after purchasing it, so the lack of responsiveness could not have been due to my failure to follow their registration instructions. Regardless of how appealing the SteriPEN is as a means of making stream water drinkable, it is a waste of money if the manufacturer fails to back up its claims that it will work.
See ***. (Problem below) I recently went on a study abroad trip to Peru, and this gave me peace of mind when it came to drinking water. (I've started using it on water from the United States as well. ) It's frightening what's still in our drinking water in the United States, and while this may not solve our problems, it makes me feel better: /) To avoid any food poisoning, I took Typhoid pills. related issues, but having this on hand for drinking water, tooth brushing water, or even a small amount of water to wash your face is critical. I adored it, and since I was on a trip with nearly 30 students, almost every single one of them had a SteriPen of varying makes and sizes, I was particularly fond of this particular model (Ultra). I recall the super small one being difficult to fit into some containers, and they didn't feel as safe as I did because the light could only penetrate so far. br>br>***The only issue I had was that it didn't work all of the time. It's odd, but I'd try purifying water several times (according to the rules) and it would never work. Because I thought my SteriPen was broken, I had to borrow other people's! Another student who had the same model (Ultra) discovered that it did the same thing and that the only way to get it to work was to run it under cold water before putting it back in the glass/cup/bottle. VERY ANNOYING*** ALL OTHER STERIPEN MODELS WORKED PERFECTLY! br>br>I chose this (after doing extensive research on all of the models) because I liked that it was USB powered and didn't require batteries, which, let's face it, is a huge waste generator in our world. Its inability to work at all times, on the other hand, is a major issue. I don't want to scare people away from this brand, or even the SteriPen in general, but it's good to be aware. There were no problems with any other SteriPen model or make. The Ultra model was the only one with which I had a problem. ALL OF THE OTHER MODELS ARE COMPLETELY COMPLETELY COMPLETELY COMPLETELY COMPLETELY COMPLETELY COMP.
I thought it was a fantastic design at first. I have a sterPen that is ten years old and still works. The old one didn't have a rechargeable battery or a happy smile face when it was finished, but it did the job. This one worked for 5 weeks before breaking down, despite the fact that the battery was fully charged. Because it had been a week since I had received it, the company I purchased it from would not stand behind it. But, thanks to Amazon's A to Z guarantee, I was fully reimbursed. I really like Amazon.
I bought this to replace my Sawyer Mini, which has served me well but is a pain to use, for a weekend backpacking trip this past weekend. I gave it three stars because, when it works, the device is fantastic. My problem, which appears to be shared by others, is that the UV light does not always turn on, resulting in a frown on the pen. I had to power cycle it several times before it finally worked. That is in no way acceptable for a device that I rely on to stay alive in the wilderness. Always have a backup, but in this case, our backup would take the place of the primary and then. There isn't anything else.
As soon as I have more information, I will update this review. After two months of work, he passed away. I now have to pay for the return shipment to Steripen. This makes me angry. As soon as I hear back from Steripen, I will update this review.
We traveled to India and exercised extreme caution everywhere (staying in a Western-style hotel). We used this a few times when we were served juice with ice at a sensitive hotel where the water was unquestionably purified), but we never got sick. br>br>Next time, I'll tell my husband that I'll make him carry it in his bag. They took it out of my bag at the Mumbai airport security checkpoint and asked what it was, so I explained that it was a water purifier and showed it to them. The issue is this. I was embarrassed that these guys might think it was a sex toy because it looked like one. Regardless, they rolled their eyes at each other when we told them it was a water purifier, as if to say, "Oh, you're fancy, huh?" People of color are a bunch of idiots. " Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
If you can find clear water, don't bother with the filter and just use this instead. The USB lithium battery charges quickly and lasts a long time; however, the lamp's cap can be a nuisance, so you may want to remove it and use the bare bulb in your drinking water bottle instead. Aside from that, it's a tough product that I used on a 45-day trip through Africa. Villagers stood around watching as the bulb lit up my water bottle and the LED panel lit up with a happy face. It worked well for neutralizing bacteria and viruses floating in river water or water drawn from the village well.
On a recent trip to India, I purchased this device to use. Before I left, I tried it three times in the United States to make sure it worked. To keep it safe, I carried it in my carry-on luggage. In India, it was a flop from the start. The light was turned off because the bulb had blown out. I do not recommend this product. Others have complained about the bulb, but with so many other reviews, I figured the chances of receiving a defective one were slim. My assumptions were incorrect. The issue is that you can't count on it to work when you need it the most.
