So far, I've only used pots, but I don't see why that shouldn't change.
It wasn't designed to be used that way, but if you didn't have any other options, I can see how you could do it if you tied each of the three legs to the top of your tripod separately. It could actually work out well like this:

I took it camping this weekend, not realizing how short it would be, but it worked fine; we placed it in the corner of the fire pit and used the indirect heat to cook our foil packs. It most likely took 15 minutes. To get them bubbling, it will take 20 minutes. I wish it were a little taller, but for the price, it'll suffice.
I used this product to place a pot on top of it so I could cook over my fire pit!.
It's a fantastic little grill that you can carry around with you. Make certain to spread everything out. You should not have any spills if the legs are properly supported.
Legs don't lock into place like they're supposed to.
This was chosen because it appeared to include a useful storage bag, but it does not. It appears to be great, but I'm a little disappointed. I'm excited to put it to use over the weekend.
I used my outside fire pit to cook, and it was a huge success.
