Questions & Answers

Is the grate in any way better now? It immediately warped, according to a number of people. ?

That does not seem to be the case. Mine warped after the third or fourth use, rendering it useless. We had a previous Coleman grill that lasted for years but the grate was made of a different material, so we were disappointed.

I'm looking for a carrying/storage bag that will fit this grill. Do you have any recommendations?

Tractor Supply's Coleman medium stove carry bag appears to be the same as the one I purchased. Of course, you'd have to double-check the fit.

Is it true that a grease drip pan made of plastic will melt?

For the past three seasons, I've been using mine. It's perfectly fine to use a drip pan.

Is there a grill by Coleman that doesn't have a warped grate?

They do, but not for this particular model. They will send you a replacement for this model, but it will be the same grate that you currently have. I reached out to Coleman, and here's what they had to say about the situation. "You should only use the grill grate for grilling." It's not meant to be used with a pan or pot, but that's exactly what the majority of our customers do. Aluminum foil can be used underneath the burner to help with grease, but it should not be used on the grate itself. This can cause the grate to melt, which is why some customers are experiencing grate warping. The owner's manual makes no mention of this.

Grill is a complete disaster
3/5

Instead of wasting your time, spend a little more and get one of the far superior Coleman Roadtrip Grills. Coleman is a well-known brand when it comes to camping supplies, so I bought this item. Unfortunately, this item does not live up to its name; I used it to grill hotdogs and hamburgers while camping with my family over the weekend. Because the hotdogs slid around on the stamped steel grill surface, it was difficult to get them just right. You had to place them with extreme caution. There are many hot and cold spots on the grill. The hotdog would burn mercilessly on one end while remaining cold on the other. Even worse were the hamburgers. We were preparing one of those low-cost pre-packaged meals. You can buy pre-formed patties in bulk. They're big enough that a single patty could stretch from the "surface of the sun" hotspot in the middle of the grill to the "iceberg's center. " The inside of the burger had started to burn before the outside had even begun to sear. When you tried to move the burger around and turn the raw parts into the heat, it broke into many pieces. I ended up turning it off and putting the crumbling patties in a pan on my Coleman camp stove, which resulted in loose meat sandwhices.

One of the feet broke off before I could use it due to poor construction
3/5

They're made of an extremely thin plastic. I called Coleman Parts and placed an order for what I thought was a single foot. I didn't realize they came in a package of four until I received the part in the mail. I ordered what I thought was a backup in case the first one failed. There are now seven spares in my possession. Stove works as expected and should last a long time. The cooking grate is extremely thin, which is my only complaint. After a while, this will most likely warp. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> When I first used my grate, it warped. I contacted Coleman Customer Service, and they agreed to send me a replacement grate along with proof of purchase. "The grill grate is only for grilling," they explained. It's not meant to be used with a pan or pot, but that's exactly what the majority of our customers do. It's for this reason that the grate is warping. Aluminum foil can be used underneath the burner to help with grease, but it should not be used on the grate itself. It's possible that the grate will melt as a result of this. ".

It's a stove, so buy it that way
3/5

The grates are junk, and even on the lowest setting, the grates were warped. I was fighting a 1 foot flame because the fire was so hot. I gave up and used a pan to cook the dogs. It works well as a stove, but I will need to replace the grate soon. Perhaps some spacers as well. It's also impossible to start the barbecue if it's been turned off after it's been on. To keep the thing from moving when you try to turn it on, you'll need to use a towell. The plastic latch also sits directly over the fire the entire time, and when you have a flare up, the latch gets scorched. The ignition should be turned down, not back, so I don't burn myself or knock the grill off the camp table. Uneven cooking, use it as a stove; grates need to be raised so they are not 1" off the fire.

It catches fire and becomes extremely hot
3/5

This seemed like a good option for a camping grill to me. It appeared to be well-designed and reasonably priced. We used it to prepare two meals and discovered that the grill was too hot to turn down any further. It has a tendency to flare up frequently, so the only way to cook the meat was in the center (to avoid burning it). This will be returned to you.

What has become of Coleman grills? This model of grill is one of my favorites at home
3/5

I placed a second order for the RV. On the wind block, there was a broken hinge. Return it to get a replacement. This new ignition doesn't work because it doesn't spark. This is a huge letdown for a Coleman product. I'm going to try a different brand or a model that doesn't have an ignition. Quality control is shockingly poor.

Outside is ablaze, but the inside is still raw
3/5

Years ago, I used to own a Coleman grill. It turned out to be excellent. This one is a little different. The grill has a sliver of flame running through it. Even on the lowest setting, it is excessively hot. I wish I could return it, but the time limit on returns has passed. On the outside, the burgers were charred, but the middle was still raw.

It is simple to light the burners
5/5

Coleman's portable stoves are of the highest quality. I go camping at least once a month, and sometimes more. The burners are simple to light and operate with small propane cans or a standard 20-pound propane tank if you have an extension. Hot dogs and steak cook to perfection on the grill surface. Cooking with a pan is also possible, and the windscreen helps to keep the flames in check. It's small and light, which makes it ideal for travel. Cleaning and using it is a breeze. For my purchase, I received excellent quality and a great product.

It is preferable to investigate alternative brands
3/5

I tried to cancel it less than an hour after placing the order on a Sunday, but Amazon refused. Rather than deal with the hassle of returning it, I decided to keep it. Advantages: br>br> I was able to eat while camping, and it was of a reasonable size and weight. It all starts out simple. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. After only one use, the cooking grate had warped. My burgers were burned in seconds, even on the lowest setting, and the grill caught fire several times. Unless you like your food to be extremely charred, it isn't practical in any way.
