For use in saltwater, a zinc alloy is used. It's not a good idea to use it in fresh water.

Questions & Answers

Why aren't any of them made out of aluminum? 375"?

That is an excellent query. Perhaps there isn't enough demand in that size; however, if you'll be using your boat mostly in brackish water, aluminum would be a better choice; for salt water, zinc is used, and for fresh water, magnesium is used.

1 inch shaft ?

Two is the number I always use. One of them will fall off first, signaling that both must be replaced. You can do this with SCUBA equipment or hire someone to do it if your boat stays in the water all season. It takes only a few minutes to complete. Bring a bucket to hold the tools while you work in a short role.

Is there a copper contact point on the inside of the 1 1/2" shaft martyr zinc?

No, all Martyr anodes with a rating of less than 2 are prohibited. Two bolts are used to secure the 25" piece. Since about four years ago, Martyr has been removing copper balls from new anode designs. It allows for a more precise fit and eliminates the need for a hammer during installation.

This is for a 2 inch shaft, correct?

The CMX09M is designed for a 2-inch shaft. This is for one person only. 3/4”

The slitted bolt, which is difficult to install underwater, was not my favorite feature. An alanwrench is preferable to a screwdriver in my opinion. This is a brand that I would not purchase again.

It is difficult to put together

A slutted bolts did not appeal to me. It is difficult to put together. I will not purchase this product again. I'll look for one that has the type alanwrench.

It's easier to install under water because the nuts are captive. br>Recently updated; This is my third order of two, and I'm very pleased with how well my underwater running gear is protected. They disintegrate in about a year, leaving just enough to unbolt. br>Magnesium is used in fresh water. Fresh zinc will last much longer, but it will form an oxide, which will stop the process and thus the protection.

The zinc plate that I received appears to be of excellent quality. The seller has offered to correct the shipping error as a gesture of good will!.
