Questions & Answers

I'm not sure what the difference is between this and a frontloader. ?

Hello,br>The Highroad is a far more contemporary bike rack. On small SUVs, you'll notice that the entire tray sits further forward on the vehicle, allowing for better lift hatch clearance. It can also fit bigger tyres than the FrontLoader. In addition, unlike the FrontLoader, it has a thicker cable lock. Excellent! br>

When a bike isn't attached, how does the wheel hoop stay secure? When I'm not carrying a bike, I don't want to remove the rack.?

It has a knob that you tighten to lock the front bike wheel in place, and it just sits folded in place when the bike is not in use.

What do I need to mount this to Whispbar Rail Bars with t-nuts? channels?

Nothing at all, in fact. Rubber straps are included to wrap securely around your whisper bars. You'll need t-shirts instead of rubber straps if you don't want to use the rubber straps. bolts for attaching to the bar

The Yakima website says it will fit a 4" tire, but the specifications don't mention it. ?

Yes, but you'll also need the 16" Long Wheelstrap. The Long Wheelstrap was not included in 2017 units; however, the 12" and 16" straps were included in 2018 units. Please contact us at [email protected] if your Highroad does not come with the long 16" strap. We'll send you one if you email us at com.

Roof Racks for Tesla Model 3 are compatible with this product
5/5

It was exactly as described. I drove 600 miles to Lassen with two bikes (each weighing 25 pounds). Everything was expertly constructed. I bungee corded them for added safety. The roof racks were installed on a Tesla Model 3 with Tesla's own roof racks. There will be no issues. There is no sound of cracking. 'Two thumbs up' is a phrase that I use to describe how I feel about something.

Make sure your crossbar spread is correct! I'm confident that the rack is in good working order
3/5

However, the crossbar spread can only be 36 inches wide. wtf. My crossbars on my 2016 Tucson (which isn't a big car) are installed at a minimum of 38 inches. Gahhh.

The bike rack on the roof is fantastic
5/5

However, I gave it back. I did a lot of research comparing roof racks and Yakima vs Thule models before deciding on the HighRoad mount. It was simple to put together, and once I slid my road bike in and tightened the front holder, it felt extremely secure. There are no concerns about how it will perform on the highway. br>br>One thing I should have considered was that I was hoping for a rack that I could easily remove (as I use my car for work and didn't want to leave it with a rack like this attached all of the time). The rack attached to my OEM aero roof rails in about 5 minutes, but I didn't want to have to readjust and remount every time I wanted to go for a ride; additionally, I am 6'3'' and needed to use a stepstool to get up tall enough to mount the rack and secure my 60cm bike. br>br>The rack is well made and definitely solid; however, after discussing it with my wife, I returned it for a hitch mount rack (so we I went with the Sagman Chinook rack and a Curt 1 1/4 inch hitch, which fits my 2017 Forester. My recommendation. . br>br> If you plan to use a roof mount, think about your hitch options. I thought the roof mount would be less expensive (I bought two of the HighRoads), but it turned out that once I discovered non-slip, the roof mount was actually more expensive. With a hitch mount, the cost was significantly lower than with a Yakima or Thule brand, regardless of how well they are rated. I'm going to do my own hitch installation on the car so I don't have to worry about getting bikes on the roof. Best of luck! br>br>.

High-quality materials that are simple to load and unload
5/5

Up to three people can be accommodated. Tires with a 25" width! I bought two of these to replace the Thule Big Mouth (also known as OEM Honda) bike racks on my Element. I recently bought a house for my wife and myself, which we are both 27 years old. There were five or more bikes with 3" wide tires, and new racks were required to accommodate the much wider tire width. These Yakima Highroads are fantastic; they're simple to install and much easier to load bikes into than the racks I had (and there's no more scratched paint on the bikes). They're a little bulky, but they're low on the rack and have a sleek design to compensate. Don't forget to get some locks to secure it to your crossbars as well as the integrated bike lock.

These are absolutely fantastic
5/5

I bought a new 2017 Specialized EPIC FSR World Cup Carbon 29" bike and didn't want to use the existing hitch mount because it was inconvenient and could damage the frame. The rack arrived quickly, with standard shipping taking only two days. I was skeptical at first, but on my first drive, I was driving north in the morning, so it was nice to see a shadow the whole way! These are great and well worth the money, especially if you get the locks with them. I've used them four times now and have had no problems. I was able to mount the bike without stepping up into the door jam on a 2017 Explorer with no problems. The only thing to note is that I am 6' and am right at level to mount the bike without stepping up into the door jam. I lift the bike by the crank arm and front shock, and it fits perfectly. I then hold the crank arm and the retaining bar in place, which clicks into place and stays put while screwing it in until it clicks. The screwing mechanism is easy to secure and quick to install.

For a variety of bicycle types, it is simple to use
5/5

I haven't used roof-cleaning in a long time. bike racks that are attached to the wall For at least 15 years (until I forgot about the bikes on the roof). br>br>I've used hitch racks and trunk racks that rely on the bikes being suspended from the top tube. If you have a bike with unusual frame geometry, children's bikes, or delicate carbon frames, this Yakima is far superior. Apart from the tires, nothing else comes into contact. There's a big thumbs up for that. br>br>Actuation is also simple, and I've used full-scale full-scale full-scale full-scale full-scale full-scale full-scale full-scale full-scale full-scale full-scale full Suspension bikes, disc brake bikes, children's bikes, fat or skinny tires, and carbon road bikes have all been loaded onto the roof with no problems. br>br>For me, that checks all the boxes. I'm hoping I don't forget that the bikes are still on the roof.

It's already in a state of disintegration
3/5

Since I've had it, it's worked flawlessly and completed the task at hand. I've had no problems with it, but I've had to remove it from my roof rack at least three times. That was probably one too many times. Because the front right rivet no longer tightens, I am unable to use it. In December of last year, I received this. The year is 2020, and it's the month of May. I'll get in touch with Yakima to see what they have to say. In addition, I am responsible for shipping it to them for repair, which will most likely cost $50. Given how much I paid for it, this is something I shouldn't have to do. I hope this has been of assistance.

Excellent value for money
5/5

Roof racks that cost hundreds of dollars more have been seen. This mountain bike isn't going anywhere anytime soon. There's no way the bike rack can fail because it's securely attached to the cross members. If that mountain bike falls off the top of that rack, the whole roof will come off with it! br>br>However, if you have an XL or XXL, the wheelbase is too long and the vehicle will hang off the back. The only issue is that this is the only issue. br>br>I'm going to buy another one for my other bikes because it's such a good deal. br>br>However, being tall aids in lifting the bike onto the car!.
